My house is a flurry of activity these days. It usually is around the end of school, but this year is even more so. Our younger son, Connor, is graduating from high school. So in addition to the normal end-of year activity, we also are juggling a baccalaureate, Senior Breakfast, a graduation party, not to mention.....

AUMC Staff Announcement - Communications Director
|
We are pleased to announce that Sue Davis will be joining the staff of Aledo UMC as Communications Director as of Monday, June 6.
Sue has a 25-year background in advertising and marketing and spent 13 of those years as Graphics Manager for a major worldwide ministry. In her role as Communications Director, Sue will oversee all print, electronic and social media for Aledo UMC and work with staff and volunteers to articulate a cohesive message of how God is moving in and through us.
Sue and her husband, Jay, are members of Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Their son Johnnie Davis, daughter-in-law Ashley and grandchildren Rueger and Ainsley are members of Aledo UMC.

AUMC Staff Announcement - Children's Ministries Director
|
We are pleased to announce that Jennifer McDaniel will join the staff of Aledo UMC as Director of Children & Family Ministries, effective June 27.
Jennifer is a certified elementary school teacher and taught third and fourth grade in three DFW-area school districts. For the past three years she has served as the director of preschool ministries for Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst, overseeing and developing curriculum for the church's Parents' Day Out program and directing the preschool and kindergarten Sunday school program. She also has served as the assistant director for the church's Vacation Bible School.
Jennifer and her husband, Clay, and their three children, moved to Aledo about a year ago. In addition to her church work, Jennifer also served as a Computer Lab Instructor for Aledo ISD during the 2015-16 school year.
In her role as Director of Children & Family Ministries, Jennifer will oversee all aspects of programming for children birth to sixth grade and work closely with the Student Ministries Department to help exiting sixth-graders transition to the Youth Group.

Registration has been extended for the Junior High mission trip! Forms are available at the Connection Center or on the Student Ministries webpage at aledoumc.org. Registration extended until deadline is Sunday, June 5th .

Jr. High Mission Trip Meeting

Jr. High-June 8, 6:30pm, Chapel
Wednesday, June 8th, Student Ministries will be having a meeting about the Jr. High Mission Trip to Taylor, TX. Important information about the trip will be discussed including what we will be doing while there.

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group & Kaleidoscope
|
Thursday, June 9, 1:00-3:00pm
We will have a speaker on the program called AlzBetter and Dr. Sarajane Eisen will talk about "Aging in Place" making your home safe for the person with dementia.

Sunday, June 12, 10:00am, in the Sanctuary
Dr. Eric McKinney with the Texas Methodist Foundation will join us during the Sunday school hour to outline a process of visioning and strategic planning upon which he will embark with us in the Fall. Eric will share how the process will unfold and answer any questions you might have. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend and begin looking to the future.

Summer Mission Trip Donations
|
Donations of food items that the youth will be able to use on mission trips this summer are being collected now! We are looking for individually packaged items like chips, granola bars, oreos/cookies, fruit snacks, etc. Anything that students would be able to put in there lunches while we are on mission trip. Place all donations in the marked bin in the Narthex.

AUMC Cleaning Bucket Drive
|
Aledo UMC is sponsoring a "bucket drive" to provide much needed supplies to folks around Texas whose homes have been damaged by spring flooding and tornadoes. Pick up a list of supplies at the Connection Center, or to find it online click here. Bless lives: Return your filled bucket to the marked bin in the Narthex, or make a monetary donation toward our AUMC Bucket Drive! Please memo your check "Buckets".

Aledo UMC needs additional paid caregivers for the nursery-Pre-K rooms during both worship services and Sunday School. We will work with your worship attendance. Must be 18 years or older. Please contact Barbara Leevy @ 817-441-8329 or email children@aledoumc.org.

Join Aledo UMC Kids as a Sunday morning volunteer! You will have fun and be blessed by the experience. Volunteers are needed in the nursery and in Sunday School from age 2 through sixth grade. Evening VBS - July 10-14, 5:30-8:30pm
Mornig VBS - July 11-15, 9:00am-Noon
VBS is for all children age 3 through rising 6th grade. Cave Quest VBS will include awesome Bible stories, amazing music, super fun games, fantastic crafts, and meaningful mission projects. Fifth and sixth graders take part in their own VBS Mission Camp. Please share the news and invite your friends!

It takes a village! We need volunteers for Vacation Bible School 2016. We are looking for Morning and Evening Crew Leaders, Station Leaders, Station Assistants, and Registration Greeters. We have a job for just about ANYONE! Please consider giving your time to the kiddos of Aledo so we can pass along the Love of God to each of them. Contact Tammy Decker or 682-365-8113 to volunteer!

Summer AUMC Children's Ministry Mission Project

Socks and underwear drive supporting the Aledo Children's AdvoCats Clothes Closet. Underwear is needed for children through youth (adult size - no show socks, ladies bikini underwear and men's boxer briefs are especially needed for older students).

We have some awesome activities planned at Aledo UMC Kids this Summer! Join us for Esther Strong - a Gracefully Strong mini camp, a fun Triumph Sports Camp that includes several sports and a daily Bible lesson, and our amazing annual Vacation Bible School with tons of amazing God sightings, awesome music, crafts, games, and Bible stories.
