The pool looks beautiful, thanks to all the committed
and hard working neighbors in Trout Valley!
I want to thank all of the Trout Valley volunteers that came out for the work day at the pool last Sunday... you are all amazing. The pool is looking great, so get out and enjoy it this summer.
I also want to announce our date for the 2nd annual Bob Chinn's dinner... be sure to save the date (Saturday, July 25th). Blue crab claws, Mia Tia's and much more. For those who didn't make it last year ... trust me you will not want to miss it. All adults in Trout Valley are invited and you can bring friends too. We have space for about 115, so please call or email to save your spot as soon as possible. (Dave Mokry 312-283-1184 or email dm@barnwoodstudio.com)
For information on joining the pool, please contact me.
Thank you,

Mosquito Control
The recent wet weather has left Trout Valley a perfect breeding ground for those pesky Mosquitoes. I recently heard a couple of the smaller ones as they were buzzing by me say something like, "Let's grab this guy quick before the big mosquito gets here." Naturally I ducked inside.
We have hired Clarke Mosquito control, the same outfit that helped us last year. They'll probably come through our roads the night of the 22nd or 23rd, depending on weather. There's nothing toxic to pets, plants, or humans (unless you have a pet mosquito). They will also spray the lodge, pool, and tennis courts on the 26th for our Independence Day event and fireworks on the 27th.

Welcome New Residents!
Please give a warm, Trout Valley "welcome" to the musical and creative McCarthy Family, now residing at 170 Rainbow Lane. Brian and Shelly, along with their children Aidan and Keira, relocated from Fox Trails just down the road.
Shelly grew up in central Illinois near Champaign. Brian was a member of an Army family and moved seventeen times before he turned 18. They met while in high school, in Fullerton, CA, during a national competition of show choirs. Both were chosen to become members of the 'Young American Song & Dance Company" after high school graduation. For the next three years, they toured and performed all over the world with this group. Brian and Shelly both graduated from Cal State-Fullerton.
Shelly, a biologist and researcher, worked in pharmaceutical intermediates for about ten years. She is now a stay-home mom. Presently on the School Board of Trinity Oaks Christian Academy, she also enjoys photography, cooking, and reading. Brian attended John Marshall Law School and works as the Chief Employment Counsel for Arthur J. Gallagher in Itasca.
Brian and Shelly have been Homebrewers for almost twenty years. They brew about four to six beers per year and keep a charming book of all their custom beer labels. Brian is the Brewmaster, while Shelly, with her science background, is the Fermentation Scientist. Brian also brews a delicious cup of coffee. Thanks, again!
The McCarthy family also enjoys "Geocaching." It's an outdoor treasure hunt using GPS orienteering that has taken off all over the world. They try to solve one puzzle per week. Reading and traveling are also favorite activities of the family, with Italy being their favorite destination. Cooking is also a family affair with Italian, Indian, and Sushi being their top cuisines.
Aidan, age 14, will be entering high school in the fall at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy. He recently won the "Husky Award" which is bestowed upon the 8thgrade student, voted by peers and school staff, that demonstrates the best character, academic excellence, and community service. Aidan enjoys Geometry, Social Studies, reading and writing. An essay he wrote about what the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Means to America" was chosen as a winning entry. His reward was to lay a wreath at the Tomb on a school field trip to Arlington Cemetery. Performing in the musical theater group "Spotlight" in McHenry County is a favorite hobby, as well as playing the trumpet, guitar and holding a second degree black belt in karate.
Keira, age 12, will be entering 7th grade at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy. She loves to read fiction and science fiction/ fantasy books. The Harry Potter series is a favorite. Creative writing is another activity that Keira excels at. The music gene continues as she loves to sing in her church youth choir and play the flute. Science is her best subject in school and swimming is a hobby she enjoys whether in a lake, river, sea, ocean, or pool.
Roxie, their six year old female boxer, completes the McCarthy family. They love the beauty of Trout Valley, seeing the sun shining through the trees by the ponds, and watching the wildlife in their back yard. Their new home feels like a "vacation home" to them and they can't wait to meet their Trout Valley neighbors and become a big part of our community.

Fish News
This is a great time of year to remind all residents of the fishing policy in Trout Valley:
Tom Sawyer pond is the only pond that is not fly fishing only. The TV Association directory has a write up on the fishing policy. Please review if you have any questions.
Fishing Rules
- Only members and accompanied guests, all wearing fishing badges, may fish in the trout ponds and Tom Sawyer pond.
- All fish caught anywhere in Trout Valley waters must be released.
- In the trout ponds only fly fishing with barb-less hooks is permitted. Other tackle and baits may be used to fish Tom Sawyer pond and deeply hooked fish must be released by cutting the line close to the hook.
- Fishing badges must be worn when fishing. A State License is also required.
- All Trout Valley residents are asked to observe that fishing badges are displayed by people fishing and an official TVA diamond is affixed on parked cars.
Please wear your fishing badges where they can be easily seen by a passerby and have a TV diamond on your parked car. If residents see people fishing without badges they have every right to inquire and ask for proof of residency.
Finally, new signs specifying the fishing rules are coming soon.
Please remember: The reason we have good fishing is because the person before you took care to catch and release the fish you caught.

Wood Chipping
June 22
Chipping of brush and tree limbs is a service provided by Trout Valley maintenance personnel using Trout Valley provided wood chipping equipment for the convenience of Trout Valley residents. It is NOT for cleanup after professional landscape or tree services. Large wood chipping equipment is used in this process and will not be brought onto the resident's property (liability issues); nor will small, left over debris be raked up. Piles of wood and brush must be left next to the street on the resident's property. Those piles should be stacked with cut ends facing the street - haphazard piles take 3 times as long to chip and may be left behind if they are too tangled
Timing of wood chipping will be posted on signs coming into Trout Valley. Currently those signs are on Stonegate as it intersects Country Commons and on Country Commons at the intersection with Turkey Run. The wood chipping season is largely dependent on Algonquin Township's ability to accept wood chip dumping. The usual season is March through October.
Watch the signage near the barn street corners for specific dates each month.

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
Thanks, Bob Baker
