For History Buffs and New Residents
Oct. 3, 1955: Once the Cary estate of magnate John Hertz (founder of Yellow Cab Chicago and Hertz Rent-a-Car), this photo shows the building in its later years, after it was converted into a high-end restaurant called Villa d'Este.

Traffic Pattern Concerns:
Jim Gleason has made us aware of a safety issue that has been in existence for a long time in Trout Valley. Many of us have had similar experiences as what Jim has had. The issue is at the intersection of Country Commons and Cary-Algonquin Rd. Drivers coming south on Cary-Algonquin and turning left into the Valley often cut the corner too sharply as they try to beat oncoming traffic and therefore endanger drivers exiting the Valley and themselves. The real problem is poor sight-lines, as the building on the corner hides the exiting traffic and forces drivers at the stop sign to creep forward so they can see around the corner. Rather than wait for an accident to force us to do something, we've decided to put in clear left and right turn lanes at the bottom of the hill and clearly delineate the incoming traffic lane. Please follow those lines and try hard not to "cut the corner".

River Road becomes one-way when it snows
Although we have only seen a dusting of snow thus far, it is good to remember the change to River Road that goes into effect.
When it snows, traffic on River Road becomes one-way (down hill) from Stonegate Road to Trout Valley Road (at the bridge). With River Road being so narrow and the incline so steep, going uphill puts you and those driving down River Road in danger. Once the weather improves and the roads are cleared, the restriction is lifted.
|
Road Work Update
Paving is completed. There will be some work at the Country Commons entrance today, putting yellow stripes on the turn lanes.

Trout Valley Association News
Upcoming meeting:
November 17, 2014
7 p.m. at the lodge
Changes to the Association's Board
Due to ever-increasing professional obligations, Jeff Greenwald has resigned his Board position; his resignation was effective October 20. At the October 20 meeting, the Board appointed Tom Lentz to complete the term of this seat, which ends in September 2015. Tom will take on the Social, Deed Restrictions and Insurance committees. Thanks, Tom, for stepping up to serve on the Association Board!
Call the Sheriff
If you are aware of a problem in the community, it's often best to call the McHenry County Sheriff to ensure they have a record of the problem. If your home is burglarized, you witness vandalism, you see people loitering down by the river or at other locations within the Valley, please inform the Sheriff. Maintaining a connection with the Sheriff's office helps to ensure the security of our community. The Sheriff's non-emergency number is (815) 338-2144.

Welcome New Residents!
Please give a warm, Trout Valley "welcome" to our new residents, Sarah and Dave Fornear. Sarah and Dave moved from Palatine, about a month ago, into their new home at 279 Little Stonegate Road. Newlyweds, they got married on Shipwreck Beach on the island of Kauai in April.
Sarah grew up in Crystal Lake and played volleyball at Crystal Lake Central High School. She got her degree at Southern Illinois University and has worked as a CPA for Clean Air Engineering in Palatine for the last eight years.
Dave also grew up in Crystal Lake and attended Prairie Ridge High School where he played soccer. Dave has worked as an Electrician (commercial, industrial, residential) since 2001. He also worked for a defense contractor as an electrical inspector/electrician in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Dubai.
Sarah and Dave love to travel and have visited Thailand, London, Costa Rica and Hawaii. They are also fans of the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks. Dave enjoys fishing, sightseeing and riding his Harley. His grandfather, Donald Maechtle, was the field goal kicker for the 1946 Rose Bowl Team from the University of Illinois.
They were sold on Trout Valley because of its uniqueness, character, beautiful trees, location near the Fox River, sense of quiet, and that it's not in an urban environment. We are happy you have madeTrout Valley your new home!

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
Thanks, Bob Baker
