Did you lose a cat? A resident found a beautiful, young adult male cat in the middle of the road early Thursday evening, where Turkey Run Rd. and Rainbow Lane split. He's tawny/buff colored, short hair, striping on his tummy, not neutered, with claws, but no collar. He's very sweet and well fed, so he probably belongs to someone. If he belongs to you or someone you know, call or leave a message for Ann Somers at 847-404-3802, or email at acs181@aol.com.

Road Work
This year's road work will begin on Monday, November 3rd. Work will start down at the marina. The Boat Club is paving the walkway around the marina. Next up will be Association work, starting with the parking lot and patching the Lodge lot. No parking at the Marina area for 24 hrs (starting Monday), so paving can be completed.
The crew will then begin working on Turkey Run, Hawthorne Way, Big Oaks, and Little Marryat. Please use alternate routes when possible and be cautious around the workers. Any questions - please contact call Bernie (first choice) at 224-401-3128, or Wally at 847-682-8500.
Thanks,

Trick-or-Treat Safety Tips
The Cary Police Department wishes all area children a safe and happy Halloween. The Police Department recommends that children follow these guidelines so they may have an enjoyable and safe evening:
Trick-or-Treat in groups in your own neighborhood or an area that is familiar to you. Wear a costume that makes it easy for you to walk, see and be seen.
Wait until you get home to eat your treats. Have your parents or a responsible adult check them first. Throw away any candy or food that is not wrapped or looks like it may have been tampered with. If you have suspicious looking candy, please tell your parents.

Reminder About Golf Cart Drivers
There are a lot of golf carts being driven by kids on the roads in the Valley. The Golf-cart guidelines clearly state that all drivers MUST have a drivers' license.
Section from our guidelines:
State law permits local governing bodies to allow golf carts on local streets under certain
circumstances. They may operate only on streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less, the drivers must have valid Illinois drivers' licenses, and the vehicles must have brakes, steering, a rear-view mirror, headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, reflectors on the front and back, and "slow-moving vehicle" signs in the rear. Although Trout Valley's streets are private and not subject to these rules, for the protection and safety of the community, the State's requirements are being enforced.
Thank you,
Wally Zimmerman

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
Thanks, Bob Baker
