(this information will always be at the bottom of each newsletter)

Laura Whalen has taken over the job of coordinating the Lodge and Barn Rentals.  Thank you Laura, for volunteering!

Anyone who is interested in renting the Lodge, Barn or tables and chairs should visit that link and complete the form.  Laura will respond to the request within 24 hours to let you know if the space is available and to send along the paperwork, instructions, etc.  It will save time if you check availability on the Events Calendar, before submitting a request form.

Click here to reserve the barn or lodge for rent, click on this link - Lodge or Barn Rental Request Form.

Direct questions about rentals to tvlodgebarnrental@gmail.com.

Need the barn or lodge for a TV club or government event?

If you are reserving dates for a TV club or government event that does
not have to pay to rent the facilities, Vernie Vadnais can add you to the calendar and a form does not need to be submitted.  Please check the Events Calendar for availability before submitting your request.
Email Vernie at troutvalleynews@gmail.com.

The TV website Events Calendar requires that you log in to the site.  If you have never set up a log in - there is an option to request one.

If you have already reserved a spot on the calendar for an upcoming event, but have not done your paperwork or paid your deposit - please click on Lodge or Barn Request Form above and fill out that form.  Laura can then get the paperwork to you.

Thank you

Trick or Treat Information

October 31st

Trick-or-Treat Safety Tips

The Cary Police Department wishes all area children a safe and happy Halloween. The Police Department recommends that children follow these guidelines so they may have an enjoyable and safe evening:

Trick-or-Treat in groups in your own neighborhood or an area that is familiar to you. Wear a costume that makes it easy for you to walk, see and be seen.

Wait until you get home to eat your treats. Have your parents or a responsible adult check them first. Throw away any candy or food that is not wrapped or looks like it may have been tampered with.  If you have suspicious looking candy, please tell your parents.

Family Halloween Party

October 31, 2014, 4 p.m. at the lodge

Come see all the kids in costumes, it'll be quite a sight
When we celebrate at our family party on Halloween Night.

Neighborhood monsters and their families wanting to ride through Trout Valley on a tractor pulled trailer, please join us at the lodge at 4:00 with your little ones dressed in costumes with a candy bag ready to go. The tractor will take the kids to most streets in the neighborhood. After they are good and tried and growing hungry, please join us at the lodge for a evening of family fun pot luck style. We will be serving chili with all the sides.

Please click on the link below and reply to Michelle Greenwald at greenwaldfamily@att.net with your name next to item you are able to bring. In addition, we need a head count so we don't run out of chili. There will be a kid friendly Halloween movie and a bonfire to make s'mores.

Printer Friendly Form

Suggested items to bring: blankets, sticks for s'mores, baby wipes, outdoor seating and outdoor lighting/candles.

We hope you can join us for a spooky good time!

Crime Prevention Tip

Did you know you can register the serial numbers of your  valuables with LeadsOnline's "ReportIt" program? This is a free service that, upon an item's recovery, will assist law enforcement with reuniting goods that have been lost or stolen with their rightful owner.  If serial numbers are not available, such as with jewelry, photographs of the items are also accepted.

November 4th Election - Illinois

Katherine C. Schultz, McHenry County Clerk, announces that voters can cast a ballot prior to the November 4th, 2014 General Election as early as October 20th without having to offer a reason or an excuse for wanting to vote early.

The early voting law, effective in Illinois, allows voters to cast a ballot at an early voting center through Sunday, November 2nd. The nearest early voting center for Cary residents will be at the Algonquin Township Offices, 3702 US Hwy 14, Community Room (Adjacent to Sheriff's Substation), Crystal Lake, IL:

Monday, October 20th thru Saturday, November 1st

Monday thru Friday

Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Saturday, October 25th and November 1st

Hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The state law requires that a registered voter show valid photo identification before voting early. Voters casting an early ballot must display a current driver's license, a state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph.

Any voter who requests an "Early Ballot" or an "In Person Absentee Ballot" MAY NOT go to the polls on Election Day and revoke the ballot originally requested. The law prohibits any voter who has been issued an "In Person Absentee Ballot" or "Early Ballot" from appearing at his/her precinct polling place and requesting another ballot.

For more information about early voting or voting locations, contact the McHenry County Clerk's office at (815) 334-4242.

Jackie Penze has forms, if you would like one. The applications she has are for mail in ballots, which have to be received by the county by October 30, 2014. Once the ballots are completed, it must be postmarked by November 3, 2014

Welcome Lady!

There's a new Welcome Lady in town!!  Terry Parrilli has graciously offered to bring back our old tradition of visiting the homes of new neighbors to bring them neighborhood greetings and information.  She will be able to answer your questions about our village and association, the many wonderful amenities, and the clubs and activities that are available, etc.

She has already started contacting some of our new neighbors, but if you moved in recently and would like a visit - please feel free to contact Terry.

Reminder About Golf Cart Drivers

There are a lot of golf carts being driven by kids on the roads in the Valley. The Golf-cart guidelines clearly state that all drivers MUST have a drivers' license.

Section from our guidelines:

State law permits local governing bodies to allow golf carts on local streets under certain
circumstances. They may operate only on streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less, the drivers  must have valid Illinois drivers' licenses, and the vehicles must have brakes, steering, a rear-view mirror, headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, reflectors on the front and back, and "slow-moving vehicle" signs in the rear. Although Trout Valley's streets are private and not subject to these rules, for the protection and safety of the community, the State's requirements are being enforced.

Thank you,

Wally Zimmerman

Send blast submissions
to Bob Baker at
 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
