Note from the Editor:
If you would like to view previous issues of the the Trout Valley News, there is a "View Our Archive" button at the bottom of each newsletter. This button has recently been fixed. It now shows all of the newsletters that have been published since my first issue in March of 2013.
I have also been working on the website.
If you would like to see the TV Association Meeting Minutes - click here.
If you would like the see the Village of Cary Board Meeting Minutes -
click here. There are also links to each of these in the Quick Links on the right column of each newsletter.
If you know of areas of the TV website that need updating, please email me at troutvalleynews@gmail.com, so that I can start a list. My focus this past year has been to get the newsletter up and running, but now I am ready to start taking on some of the website update issues.
Also, If you are looking to get involved in the neighborhood - there are vacancies on a board and a committee. The Oktoberfest fundraiser is also looking for volunteers (see articles below)

Village of Trout Valley Board Vacancy
The Trout Valley Village Board is looking for a new Trustee! We've had a recent vacancy and are looking for someone to serve until the General Election in April, 2015. This will require attendance at our September 2014 Budget Meeting, October 2014 Meeting, December 2014 Meeting and February 2015 Meeting.
If you like being a Trustee, you can file petitions in December and have your name put on the ballot in April 2015 for the remainder of the term (2 years). It doesn't matter if you haven't attended a Village meeting, you only need a commitment to volunteerism and community service to do the job. We have committees that handle Security, Forestry Board (tree planting and trimming), Intergovernmental (Community Outreach), and Stormwater Management to give you an idea of some of the issues we handle. If you are interested, or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Bob Baker at 224-374-9108 or troutmayor@aol.com.
Thanks,
BB

Reminder About Golf Cart Drivers
There are a lot of golf carts being driven by kids on the roads in the Valley. The Golf-cart guidelines clearly state that all drivers MUST have a drivers' license.
Section from our guidelines:
State law permits local governing bodies to allow golf carts on local streets under certain
circumstances. They may operate only on streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less, the drivers must have valid Illinois drivers' licenses, and the vehicles must have brakes, steering, a rear-view mirror, headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, reflectors on the front and back, and "slow-moving vehicle" signs in the rear. Although Trout Valley's streets are private and not subject to these rules, for the protection and safety of the community, the State's requirements are being enforced.
Thank you,
Wally Zimmerman

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
Thanks, Bob Baker
