Reminder About Golf Cart Drivers

There are a lot of golf carts being driven by kids on the roads in the Valley. The Golf-cart guidelines clearly state that all drivers MUST have a drivers' license.

Section from our guidelines:

State law permits local governing bodies to allow golf carts on local streets under certain
circumstances. They may operate only on streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less, the drivers  must have valid Illinois drivers' licenses, and the vehicles must have brakes, steering, a rear-view mirror, headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, reflectors on the front and back, and "slow-moving vehicle" signs in the rear. Although Trout Valley's streets are private and not subject to these rules, for the protection and safety of the community, the State's requirements are being enforced.

Thank you,

Wally Zimmerman

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Please give a warm, Trout Valley "welcome" to the Hinkes family, who moved into their new home at 277 Little Stonegate Road just a few weeks ago. Vicky, George, and their daughter, Katie, along with their two cats, Sugar and Spice moved from unincorporated Dundee.
Vicky is Vice President of Taxes for Old Republic International, an insurance company, in the Loop.  She was raised in Calumet City and received her degree from Milliken University and a Masters from NIU. George is the Technology Support Supervisor for Clinical Computer Systems in Elgin.  This system electronically records activity from fetal monitors used in labor and delivery and is used in 425 hospitals all over the United States and Canada. He was raised in Chicago and Detroit, and received his degree from Benedictine College in Lisle.
In Vicky's spare time, she enjoys gardening, reading, sewing, cooking and baking.  George also enjoys cooking and baking and during the Christmas holidays, between the two of them, they bake 100 dozen Christmas Cookies! George is a member of ACE, (American Coaster Enthusiasts) and has ridden over 260 roller coasters across the United States.  His favorite wooden coaster is the "Outlaw Run" at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and his favorite steel coaster the "Goliath" at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California.  Collecting and playing pinball machines is also a favorite pastime for George.
Katie, age 11, will enter 6th grade at Cary Junior High in a few weeks. Katie enjoys riding her bike, basketball, science fiction, math, and playing "Minecraft." She shares a love of roller coasters with her dad and her favorite is the "Goliath" at Great America.  We are so happy you chose Trout Valley as your new home!

Send blast submissions
to Bob Baker at
 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
