Lost/Missing Backpack

A neighbor lost or misplaced her drawstring, small nylon backpack on July 7th outside the address of 17 Maryatt Drive.  It is a black and red Nike drawstring backpack, one side is solid red & the other is black with a pink Nike logo. It contains several items that she would like to have returned, such as gift cards, wallet, and a pair of nice headphones.

If anyone has seen this backpack or any of its contents, please contact the Hendersons @ 847-829-4277.

Thank you!!!
WOOD CHIPPING

There evidently are many trees down in Cary, especially with recent storms and the Emerald ash borer creating havoc. Both the Algonquin Highway and Cary wood chip dump sites are full and not accepting more wood chips for awhile. We have had to dump our recent wood chips down by the tennis courts. The next scheduled wood chip date of July 21 may be in jeopardy. Watch the signs in the Valley for changes in the schedule.

In the meantime, please familiarize yourself with our wood chipping regulations. We also ask that piles of brush be arranged with all the cut ends facing the street. Large haphazard jumbles of branches take three times as long to chip - and may be passed up if they are too tangled. It will be Bernie's call on what is too tangled.

New Neighbors

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Please give another warm Trout Valley "welcome" to our new neighbors, David Ippolito and Shannon Wilson.  They reside at 222 River Drive.  David moved from Palatine and works as a Project Manager for Baxter in Deerfield.  Shannon moved from Ingleside and is also a Project Manager for American Hotel Register Company in Vernon Hills.  This is their first home and Shannon said it is their "forever home."
David and Shannon have been together for three years and like to spend their anniversary up in Door County.  They enjoy entertaining, cooking and spending time with their families.  David is a Blackhawks fan, Tri-athlete and is passionate about swimming.  Since gardening is a big hobby for David, he already maintains a garden plot down by the pasture. What sold David on their home was the built-in indoor rotisserie where he loves smoking meat.
They love the sense of community in Trout Valley and feel like it's a private club with all of the amenities available.  They enjoy the friendly residents that always say "hi" when passing by their home. We are happy you chose Trout Valley as your forever home!

**********************************
And a big "welcome" to our new residents, Judy Sedlack and Jack Leist.
Judy and Jack now reside at 231 Valley Road.  They moved here from Hebron where they built a log cabin home.  They also have a home in Ft. Meyers, Florida.  Between them, they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Judy was born and raised in Cary, and spent her adult life in Crystal Lake. She is co-owner of a family business that's celebrating its 60th year. Mathews Company, of Crystal Lake, designs and manufactures farm equipment and employs 100 people.  They manufacture grain dryers that dry wheat, corn, and also pistachio nuts and coffee beans. They are shipped all over the world.
Judy is involved with the Girl Scouts and is also a member of the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake.
Jack is retired from the commercial construction industry.  He is a collector of hunting and fishing artifacts and prints.  They enjoy boating on the Fox River and the Chain of Lakes.
What drew them to Trout Valley is the serenity.  When they come home, and turn onto Country Commons Road, all the pressures of the day disappear.  The waterfalls in the trout ponds and living near the river bring them much joy. Welcome Judy and Jack, we are so delighted you chose Trout Valley as your new home!

Trout Valley has a new Little Free Library!

It is located near the Association Announcement Board, in front of the upstairs main barn doors. Carrie Krueger is pleased to be the steward for the Trout Valley Little Free Library on behalf of our neighbors and our great community!

The way it works is simple:

-     We initially stock the LFL with a variety of good quality books that we hope will interest our neighbors - for all ages, babies through adults!

-      You stop by and take whatever catches your interest

-      You return (or pass on to someone else) and can also contribute books

-      LFL books are always a gift - never for sale!

Little Free Library is a movement started in 2010, and has grown to include little libraries in most states and dozens of countries.   Little Free Library's mission is to:

  • Promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.
  • Foster a sense of community and connection as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.
  • Build more than 2,510 libraries around the world (the number of "real" libraries built by Andrew Carnegie)!

Check out the LFL story at www.littlefreelibrary.org and look at the many amazing examples of little libraries.

Donations can be dropped off at 165 Hawthorne, or contact Carrie at 847-970-0431. Many thanks to John Keane for building it and Lisa Kidder for her initial contribution of books. Thanks for your support!

 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
