Water Aerobics at the Pool
The Water Aerobics Classes at the Pool are a long-standing Trout Valley tradition.
Please join us on Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings from 9:00am until 10:00 am.
We have no current instructor, but we plan to wing it and still get in some exercise.
A limited number of Props (noodles, kick boards, and weights) will be left at the gate. Please take what you would like to use and kindly return it after class.
These classes are free and open to anyone who is a Trout Valley Pool Member.

Pool News
Pool Safety Concern:
Kids under 18 have been coming into the pool without an adult, during swim-at-your-own-risk times. Everyone who joins the pool reads and signs off on the rules, and SAOR is clearly spelled out.
The pool will not be open until 4pm today, when we will have a guard present.

Congratulations to the 2014 Village of Trout Valley Scholarship Winner...
Ms. Sophia Nordgren!
Sophia is currently a senior at Chrysalis School in Montana. In the fall, she plans to attend the University of Missouri, where she was accepted into the honors college. She participated on the Cary-Grove H.S. speech team and choir and enjoys participating in equestrian competitions. Sophia has volunteered her time at the Night Ministry Soup Kitchen, St. Michael's Wood Bank, and has worked with the elderly at Mountain View Nursing Home. As her senior project, she along with four other students are hosting a "Empowering Women Together" conference, to educate and inspire young women, to take a stand. She wants to serve as an advocate for women and their place in society. She plans to major in psychology, political science or journalism. Congratulations Sophia! Loose Dogs
We continue to hear reports of a couple of loose dogs in the valley. Please make sure your pet is restricted to your own property or being walked on a leash. Loose dogs can be a danger to themselves, to drivers, children, and other pet owners who are walking their dogs or have dogs out in their yards.

Update on Firewood from Infested Trees
Diseased Wood from Infested Trees, ie. Emerald Ash Borer, need to be burned on site or removed and taken away to the township.
If the logs are staying on the property, the owner can use as their personal firewood, but should not share it with other Trout Valley Residents. We do not want to spread the beetles or their larvae by removing the wood, unless it is going to the township.

Please take care to
not leave fires unattended and smoldering.
Trout Valley follows the Outdoor Burning Restrictions for McHenry County.

As spring arrives, many residents are considering home improvement projects. Please remember that approval from the Building Committee is required for, but not limited to, house or roof color changes, additions, patios, decks, pools, driveways and major landscaping changes. If you are simply repairing or replacing something with the exact material, then approval is not required; however, depending on the project, you may still require a McHenry County Building Permit.

COM-ED TREE TRIMMING Information regarding TV Ordinance - Care of Trees in Utility Easements
The Village of Trout Valley`s Ordinance titled Care of Trees in Utility Easements specifically states that elms and oaks should not be pruned in the period from the beginning of March to the end of October. In addition, prior to the removal of any tree which has a diameter larger than 10" requires that a permit is obtained from the Village of Trout Valley prior to removal. The complete Ordinance can be read on the Trout Valley website. In view of the fact that Com Ed has tagged trees in Trout Valley for pruning or removal, we would request residents to monitor that no elms or oaks are pruned on your property and that no trees larger than 10" in diameter are removed from your property.
Presently no tree removal permits have been requested by Com Ed or their contractors and none have been issued by the Village of Trout Valley.

On Friday, May 30th, Three Oaks Assisted Living will be hosting a free car wash at their facility at 1055 Silver Lake Road, from 12pm - 4pm. Hershey Track & Field Meet

The Cary Park District and the Hershey Company present the Hershey National Track and Field youth meet for ages 9 - 14 years. Events include 50 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter dashes; 800 meter and 1600 meter runs; 4 x 100 relays; standing long jump; and softball throw.
Local winners may be eligible to advance to the state meet or even the national finals in Hershey, PA. Because this is a national program, age refers to the child's age as of December 31, 2013.
The registration deadline is May 30.To register download a registration form. Return your completed form to the Community Center. Community Center hours are Monday - Thursday, 5:30 am - 10:00 pm; Friday, 5:30 am - 8:00 pm; and Saturday - Sunday, 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. You may also fax your form to the Community Center at 847.639.6290. Online registration is not available for this event.
Looking for Your Ancestors?
If you've ever thought you might want to research your family history, McHenry County IL Genealogical Society has a conference for you. This all-day learning experience will have 4 sessions each hour from which you can choose what interests you. Sessions are for beginners, as well as those who have already enjoyed finding their ancestors. Some topics include understanding census records, using Google maps and Google earth, and creating a family history website. Speakers are nationally known for their genealogy expertise. Genealogy Inside Out will be held on July 19, 2014 at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake. Registration by June 15th - $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Chamber of Commerce Farmers' Market Starts Sunday, June 1
The Chamber will be hosting a Farmers' Market in the north downtown commuter lot on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from June 1 through September 28. The Farmers' Market will offer a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods, herbs, flowers, plants and much more.

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
