Chipping Season is Back
Motion on Chipping
Best Practices
Chipping of brush and tree limbs is a service provided by Trout Valley maintenance
personnel using Trout Valley provided wood chipping equipment for the convenience of Trout Valley residents. It is NOT for cleanup after professional landscape or tree services.
Large wood chipping equipment is used in this process and will not be brought onto the resident's property (liability issues); nor will small, left over debris be raked up. Piles of wood and brush must be left next to the street on the resident's property.
Timing of wood chipping will be posted on signs coming into Trout Valley. Currently those signs are on Stonegate as it intersects Country Commons and on Country Commons at the intersection with Turkey Run. The wood chipping season is largely dependent on Algonquin Township's ability to accept wood chip dumping. The usual season is March through October. Watch the signage for specific dates.
Piles of brush, etc., to be chipped should be no longer than ten (10) feet, nor should any limbs have a maximum diameter greater than eight (8) inches. No root structures or balls of dirt will be chipped or hauled away - the possibility of included rocks that could damage the chipper or cause safety concerns for our maintenance workers is just too great.
Thanks for your cooperation!

Need Mulch?
As many of you know, the Trout Valley Maintenance crew creates wood chips that could be used as mulch. We normally have so much that we have to dump them at the Algonquin Highway locale, or at the Cary maintenance area.
Here's the deal - we can dump it on your property so you can mulch those plants you're buying at the Riding Club sale! Only a couple limitations - we will get you a load when we have it, a load consists of one full truckload (not a half), it will be dumped on your property where our truck can reach the spot (usually a driveway), and if it's first ordered, it's first delivered. I will maintain the list for Bernie. So if you need Mulch, call me at 847-682-8500. Let me know where you want it dumped, and we will try to accommodate you. Thanks.

COM-ED TREE TRIMMING
Over the next several weeks representatives from ComEd will be marking trees in the Valley that need to be trimmed to help prevent storm damage to their overhead wires. Their trucks may say Davey or Exelon. They will mark trees with pink tape for trimming and may eventually remove some trees entirely. They will not remove any trees on private property without getting the homeowner's written permission.

Loose Dogs
There has been a report of a dog running loose in the valley. After a long cold winter cooped up inside, our dogs are so excited to be outside again! Please remember that your dogs need to be on a leash when you're walking them, and they must be either tied up, or contained by an "invisible" fence, on your property.
Deed Restriction: ANIMALS, POULTRY AND PETS - PERMITTED KINDS, STRUCTURES AND CONFINEMENT.
10. No animals or poultry of any kind, other than house pets, shall be kept or maintained in any lot
except for those parts of said premises set aside and used for community centers and park systems
and those parts of said premises which have not yet or are hereafter subdivided into lots nor shall at
any time hereafter any building be erected for the accommodations of any animals or poultry of any
kind. (See 5b. regarding dog houses) No dogs or other house pets shall be allowed to run at large.
Thank you!

Riding Club Flower Sale
Trout Valley is such an amazing place to live and spring is finally here! This year, the youth of our non-profit Trout Valley Riding Club are holding a fundraiser Plant Sale to raise funds for necessary repairs and improvements to the barn. The plants will be delivered directly to us from the very high quality, well-known Bartel's Nursery in Michigan - they are terrific plants at a great value. "Pick Up" is the day before Mother's Day - Saturday, May 10 - at the barn, so plan on stopping by to meet our friendly riders and beautiful horses!
Please consider hanging baskets as gifts and purchasing your landscape flowers in support of our young riders this year and spread the word for us to your friends. IF YOU LIVE IN TROUT VALLEY, WE CAN EVEN DELIVER YOUR ORDER DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOUSE! No need to get your vehicle dirty this year with landscaping purchases! This weekend every home will get an order form delivered to their door, and a pdf is also attached to this newsletter. If you are looking for something in particular not on the order form, just ask - Bartel's may be able to provide what you are looking for. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
Thanks, Bob Baker
