There are some open garden plots, near the river/polo fields, available this year.

Riding Club Flower Sale
Trout Valley is such an amazing place to live and spring is finally here! This year, the youth of our non-profit Trout Valley Riding Club are holding a fundraiser Plant Sale to raise funds for necessary repairs and improvements to the barn. The plants will be delivered directly to us from the very high quality, well-known Bartel's Nursery in Michigan - they are terrific plants at a great value. "Pick Up" is the day before Mother's Day - Saturday, May 10 - at the barn, so plan on stopping by to meet our friendly riders and beautiful horses!
Please consider hanging baskets as gifts and purchasing your landscape flowers in support of our young riders this year and spread the word for us to your friends. IF YOU LIVE IN TROUT VALLEY, WE CAN EVEN DELIVER YOUR ORDER DIRECTLY TO YOUR HOUSE! No need to get your vehicle dirty this year with landscaping purchases! This weekend every home will get an order form delivered to their door, and a pdf is also attached to this newsletter. If you are looking for something in particular not on the order form, just ask - Bartel's may be able to provide what you are looking for. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Meet the Lentz Family
The Lentz Family moved into 219 River Drive in mid-January. We moved from Huntley where we spent the last 13 years. We have three children; Makenna 10, Delaney 8, and Conner 6. Tom works at Motorola Solutions and Meghan teaches in Crystal Lake. We are looking forward to our first spring and summer in "The Valley." Thank you to all of you who have welcomed us and we're looking forward to getting to know all our new neighbors.

Trout Valley Scholarship
The Village of Trout Valley is pleased to offer one college scholarship in the amount of $750 for an eligible Trout Valley resident and Association member. Graduating high school seniors are encouraged to apply. Full details can be found on the scholarship application, which is on the Trout Valley website and a link to the application is also attached to this newsletter. The Robots Are Coming! (And they're here to help.) Museum of Science and Industry
Join us April 5-13 for a Robot Block Party at MSI! To celebrate
National Robotics Week 2014, we will be demonstrating several different kinds of robots from the U.S. and around the world, offering lectures from some of the top university robotics scholars and presenting special workshops and hands-on activities.

"ROADSIDE HISTORY OF ILLINOIS"
WHEN: 7 p.m. April 7
WHERE: McHenry County Historical Society, 6422 Main St., Union
COST & INFO: The third installment in a four-part Sampler Lecture Series. Author Stan "Tex" Banash presents information about historic sites and communities along highways and roads. Tickets: $10 a person. Tickets and information: 815-923-2267.
"SHAKIN THE WINTER BLUES"
WHEN: 5:30 p.m. April 5
WHERE: McHenry VFW Post 4600, 3002 W. Route 120, McHenry
COST & INFO: A second annual benefit dinner dance featuring cocktails at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and dancing 8 to 11:30 p.m., with music by The Lakes Area Swing Band, a full 18-piece swing band. The band is strictly not-for-profit. Proceeds will benefit McHenry VFW Post 4600 Men's Auxiliary. The event will include two, 50/50 raffles, auctions, door prizes and more. "BE-YOU-TIFUL SPRING FASHION SHOW"

Keynote speaker is Amanda Thomsen, garden designer, blogger and author. Annual Fashion Show
April 25
Looking for spring? You can find it at the Kraus Senior Center Annual Fashion Show. The Fashion Show will be held on Friday, April 25th from 11am to 1:30pm at the Cary Park District Community Center. Cost is $10 Resident / $11 Non-Resident. Enjoy this perfect feel-good spring event featuring Senior Center models wearing spring and summer fashions from the Dress Barn in Crystal Lake. The Cary Police Department will once again sponsor this event with Officer Kathleen Eiring assisting as the emcee and other officers assisting the models. Three Oaks Assisted Living is also co-sponsoring this event. Lunch will feature honey baked chicken, garlic & herb pasta with flame roasted vegetables, salad and dessert. Register early as space is limited. The registration deadline is April 18 (or until filled) and refunds will not be provided after the deadline.

FIRST FRIDAY

COST & INFO: Monthly art show to enjoy with family and friends. This month's exhibit is titled "Art & Music in Action" and features more than 15 artists, diverse mediums and live music as well as studio tours. It serves as a showcase of the resident artists and musicians who rent space at Lakeside. The artists will have demonstrations of how they do their work. PUB CRAWL
WHEN: April 4-May 17
WHERE: throughout Woodstock
COST & INFO: Woodstock Celebrates, Inc. sponsors a Pub Crawl in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Orson Welles' debut as a professional director. Welles was educated and lived in Woodstock from 1926 to 1934. Prohibition and Depression era cocktails, such as Sidecar, Bee's Knees, The Flu and Between the Sheets will be featured at 13 Woodstock bars and restaurants throughout a six-week period. Customers will be given a card to have punched each time they order one of the drinks to be eligible for a prize package drawn May 18. Blast versus Newsletter?
We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents. These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses. Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter. The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information. We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.
When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages. If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.
