Issue # 48

A Note from the Editor

As many of you know, our son Andrew lost his difficult battle with stomach cancer on January 10th.  My husband and I were able to stay by his side for 13 weeks in California, and his sister Carly was able to come out there for three extended visits.  It was truly a gift to spend all of this time with him and to be able to help him with his journey.

We wish to sincerely thank each of you who helped to make that possible. To all of you who - mowed our lawn, shoveled, helped with the dogs, sent food and flowers, mailed cards of encouragement, helped Carly, posted on Drew's Facebook page, made donations to keep us in California and help with medical expenses, and especially to those of you who prayed for all of us throughout this process - there are not enough words to express our love and gratitude to you all.  How fortunate we are to be a part of this wonderful neighborhood....

I have included a link to Drew's obituary, for those of you who missed it in the paper.  He will be remembered as a kind, spiritual soul with a passionate appreciation for life, the world, nature (nurtured by his childhood in Trout Valley and its beautiful trees), his family, his friends, and his art.

Sincerely,

Vernie Vadnais

 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
