Leona Farms Questers - Luminaria Sale

Saturday, December 14, 2013

9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

During & After the Children's Christmas Party

One of the most memorable traditions in Trout Valley is when we line our roadways with luminaria on Christmas Eve.  Driving slowly through the candlelit roads on Christmas Eve is a magical experience for children and adults alike!  We hope you will join us to continue this tradition.

You may purchase kits that include 6 candles and 6 bags for $6.00.   We keep records of past quantities used at each house.

Luminaria are spaced  8 - 10 ft.  apart along the roadways only.  We highly encourage this spacing for more consistency throughout the Valley.  As always, sand will be available behind the barn the week before Christmas, but you may also purchase bags of Play Sand at local hardware stores.

The luminaria sale is the Questers' only annual fundraiser.  Last year we were able to use our accumulated funds to earn a $1,000 matching grant for restoration repairs at the pool.  We will continue to target restoration projects in Trout Valley that qualify for matching grant funds through Questers International.

Tying in with our pool restoration project, the new 2014 calendars chronicle the history of the Trout Valley Pool which was recently historically plaqued.  In addition to the luminaria and calendars, we also have the hand painted Stonegate Entrance porcelain trays, the original, reprinted 1991 Hill 'N Dale Trout Valley cookbook, the 2005 cookbook and note cards.  Our popular bake sale will offer a variety of homemade goodies for your family, friends or as a nice hostess gift.

Burning Leaves

Below is a link to the McHenry County open burning restrictions website. Please keep in mind that we have residents who suffer from asthma and respiratory conditions in our neighborhood.  Everyone should be mindful of the smoke generated from leaf and landscape waste burning.  It is preferable for our residents to dispose of their leaves in some other manner, but you must burn - please follow the county ordinance (which applies in Trout Valley).  Violators can be fined.

Thank you

Send blast submissions

 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
