A Holiday Tradition

There is a long standing tradition of lighting luminaries along our streets on the night of December 24th.  We will be continuing this tradition this year.  Luminaries are sold at the barn during and following the annual Holiday Children's Party.

Dates:
December 12, 7pm at the barn
Packing the candles into bags - all valley residents are invited.  It is always a fun event and a good way to meet your neighbors!

December 14 (during and after the party, which starts at 9:30) at the barn
Sale of candles, as well as various Trout Valley items; such as the calendar and stationery.

We are also looking for kids who would like to earn a little cash over the holidays.  Some residents like to hire kids to set up their luminaries.  If you are interested, please contact either Ann Somers - 847-639-1278 or Kristin Purtill - 847-639-1419.

Thank you!

2014 Annual Leona Farms (Trout Valley) Calendar

Thanks to Shirley Beene and Linda Stelle, our beautiful calendar is printed! We have 100 copies available for sale. The calendars are not only a history of our Historically Plaqued Swimming Pool, but a really nice calendar with a notes page. We will be selling them on Saturday, December 14th during the Trout Valley Children's Christmas party at the TV Barn.
We will be selling our luminaria kits for Christmas Eve, cookbooks, and notecards.

We will also have our annual BAKE SALE, so come by the barn and buy some goodies!

Thank you,
Leona Farms Questers

Burning Leaves

Below is a link to the McHenry County open burning restrictions website. Please keep in mind that we have residents who suffer from asthma and respiratory conditions in our neighborhood.  Everyone should be mindful of the smoke generated from leaf and landscape waste burning.  It is preferable for our residents to dispose of their leaves in some other manner, but you must burn - please follow the county ordinance (which applies in Trout Valley).  Violators can be fined.

Thank you

Send blast submissions
to Bob Baker at
 Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
