Park District Construction Update

We have been speaking to the Cary Park District about our safety concerns for Trout Valley students who use the Community Center as a bus stop or use the parking lot as a shortcut to Briargate.  We have been told that there is access to the road and the sidewalk in front of the Community Center from Trout Valley.  Students are still able to use that sidewalk.

Access across the parking lot is limited. Also. as more and more of the parking lot is torn up, it will become less safe for young children to cross through this area

The Park District has suggested that the Trout Valley students use the trail on the open land opposite Briargate School.  However, be aware that this lot is also being used for temporary parking.  We are not sure students will expect to find cars driving on this space (or the drivers may not expect to find kids walking there).

The safest route is to use the sidewalk in front of the Community Center to get to the sidewalk near the street.  It is slightly out of the way, but it is the best way to go for young children.  There will be parents dropping off students for the bus at this same spot, so it will be a busy area during school days, but still safe.

We have asked the Park District to keep us updated and we will publish this information when we receive it.  We have been promised that this is a very short term project and it should be done in a matter of weeks, weather permitting.

Thanks, Bob Baker

Blast versus Newsletter?

We've recently had questions and requests for sending out email blasts to Trout Valley residents.  These have included blasts for charitable donations and open houses.  Most community information can be circulated in the weekly newsletter.  The blasts are reserved for important and time-sensitive information.  We want residents to know that when they receive a blast, they should read it as soon as they can, as it is something of concern for the community.

When we reject a blast request, we are trying to balance the need to communicate effectively and quickly with Trout Valley against the rights of the residents not to be overwhelmed with local messages.  If we don't send out a lot of blasts, we hope those we do send get your attention. We appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Bob Baker
