Pool News
A BIG THANK YOU for Dave Peterson for researching and organizing the pool heater installation. He was able to SAVE the Valley over $4,000 from the lowest bid after receiving competitive bids. Also, with his help, we have found a supplier of pool chemicals that will also save us $1,000 annually.
Another BIG THANK YOU for our NEW residents, The Krueger Family, on Hawthorn Way!! Without asking, they took the initiative to make permanent wooden POOL signs with our pool status: "OPEN, CLOSED, and SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK." These signs are hung up each day during pool season. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and initiative!!
Check out all of the restoration work that has been done to the concrete work and to the rock stairs over the summer. Some of these repairs were made possible due to the fundraising and grant writing efforts of the Questers group. THANK YOU for your help!
Looking at our pool season coming to an end, we are approaching Labor Day weekend. We invite families to join us for a day in the sun at the pool. Please bring your BBQ items and beverage of choice for Monday, September 2nd. It is a great way to meet your new neighbors. The pool will open Monday at 12 noon. Weather should be nice, sunny, and have lower humidity. Open to all residents.
School is back and the weather is hot & humid........the pool is S.A.O.R. from 12 noon until 4:00 PM this week. Guards are on duty after 4:00 PM. S.A.O.R. means "Swim at your own Risk" with an 18 year old or older watching children under this age. Weather permitting, we would like to keep the pool open through the month of September............TBD...........
Anyone coming up to the pool is asked to help out with the skimming and removal of the acorns & leaves. Leaves and acorns will continue to cloud our pool water and shorten our pool season. Please feel free to help out in any way at the pool! Weeding is also in needed in the rock wall and deck areas.
The pool director is looking for many more volunteers to take on the daily maintenance and managing positions for the pool. The Hendersons will take a back seat this coming year but will still be involved to look at the future needed renovation projects to keep our community pool functional, safe, and a wonderful family environment for all to enjoy. Please let us know if you're interested in being a part of the pool committee...........I QUIT!!! HA HA
Our new pool heater and new mosquito system are both installed and running.

DEED RESTRICTION OF THE MONTH
(Information on minimal required landscaping for
each of our lots)
Over the years, severe weather conditions, storms, insect infestation, disease and weed invasion have affected and destroyed many of our trees and shrubs. The following deed restriction, which was way ahead of any "green" or eco-friendly movement, guaranteed a natural continuity throughout Trout Valley of indigenous landscape elements. Please take time to assess your yard to see if you still have the minimum landscaping requirements as stated in Deed Restriction #21.E.
YARD LIGHT, MEMBERSHIP, LANDSCAPING, MOWING AND DISEASED TREE REMOVAL.
21. That as to (Trout Valley):
(E) Within six months after completion of a residence on any lot in Trout Valley, each owner shall plant the following as minimum landscaping:
15 dwarf and/or low growing evergreens for foundation planting or landscaping accents such as Mugho Pine, Juniper Pine and Taxus (yew),
5 tall growing evergreens to be used as windbreaks, screens, landscaping accents and/or specimens and not as foundation planting, such as Scotch Pine, Austrian Pine, Douglas Fir and Colorado Spruce and one flowering Asiatic Crab tree (Malus) such as Hopa Bechtel and Ele)i.
If there are no shade trees on said lot, each owner shall also plant 5 deciduous trees such as Maples, Lindens, Willow, Oak and Chinese Elm.

Care for our Trees
The Village of Trout Valley's Forestry Board has noticed that occasionally posters have been nailed to trees, a practice that can cause harm to the tree.
Please do not nail posters to trees.
Contact the Forestry Board (David Hall at 708-846-0829
or Kristin Purtill at 847-639-1419) with any questions. Thank you.
Kindly, Laurie Almeraz

That's What Friends Are For
After more than a decade of use by the community, we are organizing the Friends of the Lodge -- a group dedicated to providing needed maintenance and improvements to this popular amenity. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping us determine how best to reinvest the rental fees and upgrade the Lodge to make it even better. If you would like to help and provide input, please send an email to troutmayor@aol.com. We may also host fundraisers during the year to support our efforts. The time commitment shouldn't be overwhelming as we will meet on an occasional basis and most of our discussions can be accomplished online. We look forward to your participation!

Cary Fire Plans Centennial Celebration Dance
September 14
In 2013, the Cary Fire Protection District (CFPD) is celebrating 100 Years of Service to the community. For years, CFPD held an annual dance as a fundraiser for the firefighters association. The tradition stopped in the 1980's as other fundraising activities were pursued.
As part of this year's centennial celebration, CFPD will once again host a BALLROOM DANCE. Music will be performed by a live band. Hors D'oeuvres will be available as well as a cash bar.
The dance will be:
LOCATION: Holiday Inn Crystal Lake
COST: $20 per ticket
Tickets for the dance may be purchased at CFPD Fire Station #1, 400 Cary-Algonquin Road, everyday between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm. Tickets can also be obtained through any CFPD Firefighter.
Please come out and help us celebrate the CFPD Centennial. Special Centennial T-Shirts are also available for purchase. For more information, please contact CFPD at (847) 639-2121 or visit www.caryfire.com.
