Care for our Trees
The Village of Trout Valley's Forestry Board has noticed that occasionally posters have been nailed to trees, a practice that can cause harm to the tree.
Please do not nail posters to trees.
Contact the Forestry Board (David Hall at 708-846-0829
or Kristin Purtill at 847-639-1419) with any questions. Thank you.
Kindly, Laurie Almeraz

That's What Friends Are For
After more than a decade of use by the community, we are organizing the Friends of the Lodge -- a group dedicated to providing needed maintenance and improvements to this popular amenity. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping us determine how best to reinvest the rental fees and upgrade the Lodge to make it even better. If you would like to help and provide input, please send an email to troutmayor@aol.com. We may also host fundraisers during the year to support our efforts. The time commitment shouldn't be overwhelming as we will meet on an occasional basis and most of our discussions can be accomplished online. We look forward to your participation!

TV Tennis Club Celebrates 40 Years!
A Tennis Tournament was held last Sunday to celebrate 40 years of the Trout Valley Tennis Club.
Among the TV residents that came to watch the matches and join the 40th Celebration was Bob Nitschneider. Bob & Barb have lived in Trout Valley for 46 years. Bob was on the TV Association Board when the Tennis Courts were built.
Prizes were given to the top four 17 and under group and the 4 adults with the highest scores. Players enjoyed the newly paved courts and freshly painted bleachers.
Everyone enjoyed the beautiful day and the wonderful neighborhood camaraderie !

Dear John
The Village Board would like to welcome John Liautaud as a new Trustee. John has been appointed to take the place of Mike Duffy, who moved from Trout Valley in June. John is a longtime resident who has made outstanding contributions during the time he has lived here, including his contributions of fish to the ponds, the construction of the gazebo, and his recent work clearing the fen. John has now offered to assume responsibility for studying the recent flooding in the Valley and what may be done to help alleviate it. We look forward to working with John.
In addition, we have to say a belated good-bye and a well-earned thank you to Mike Duffy and Craig Mackey. They both served for two terms on the Board during some of our most difficult financial years. Craig represented the Village on the Roads Committee and greatly assisted the Board with his security knowledge. Mike studied the gypsy moth problem in Trout Valley and directed our efforts to contain it. In addition, it was his late wife Peg who first suggested the Trout Valley Scholarship. We appreciate their efforts and wish them best of luck in their future endeavors.

A Little History...
ORIGIN OF THE DEED RESTRICTIONS The Schnering estate provided that the original declaration show Chicago Title and Trust Company, an Illinois corporation, as Trustee under the provisions of Trust Agreement #37308 dated January 17, 1955, being the owner of the real estate described as(...) does hereby declare that whenever this real estate is subdivided into lots, all future conveyances of the lots or parts there of shall be made upon and subject to the recorded covenants, conditions, restrictions and casements, liens and changes.
Some of the original administrative authority of Chicago Title and Trust Company was shared with Northwest Development Company, its successors and assigns. As the properties developed, authority was to devolve to Curtiss Farms Property Owners Association and Trout Valley Association. Curtiss Farms PropertyOwners Association was created for the entire development that included Brigadoon.
Trout Valley was a part of the entire development and the declaration created the Trout Valley Association for that part. Subsequently, it was recognized in Amendment #16 that Curtiss Farms Property Owners Association had never organized and the Trout Valley Association, its successors or assigns was assigned the powers and responsibilities of Chicago Title and Trust Co. and Northwest Development Co. for the Trout Valley portion of the development.
