Lodge Improvements
After two years of delay and frustration, we can finally report that the Lodge improvements promised in 2011 have been completed. To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Lodge, we decided to install the beams for the ceiling that were originally planned but never finished. We began in January, 2011 to meet with contractors to bid for the job. The first contractor I called was Taurus Construction from Cary. They came to the Lodge, measured, and sent me a bid two weeks later. I spent the next 15 months meeting with 10 other contractors and pleading, begging, and trying to guilt them into getting me the two more bids I needed. Finally, when I had three bids, I found that Taurus was the lowest. When I went to tell them the good news, they told me that the bid was more than a year old, so they would need to rebid. It all worked out in the end, but I am telling you this detail to let you know what a professional job they did throughout the process and how well the job turned out.
We added beams, new fans (no more of the white industrial decor), and our new tiles! Not only do the beams give the Lodge a more complete look, we hope that they may absorb some of the noise from the tall ceilings. Check them out next time you are down at the park.

Recent Robbery
8/02/2013
A house in Trout Valley was robbed on Aug 2nd. This occurred between 7:45 and 8:30 a.m. on a busy street and a block away from the Cary Police Station. No one was at home, but there were two dogs present and a car in the garage. In addition, a shovel was found inside the house which may have been used as a weapon if someone had been at home.
Past Robberies with
Disturbing Similarities
2010: Greenwald's House
ROBBERY TUESDAY, AUGUST 24th, 2010
Between the hours of 12:00 and 2:45 pm the Greenwald's home was burglarized. They reside at 109 Turkey Run Road. Jewelry and watches were stolen from their master bedroom. Both the sheriff and resident suspect that the thief was on foot as no large items were stolen from the property. They also feel it may have been someone who has been in the Greenwald's home at one time or another.
2012: Claudia Conroy's House
This burglary was at 32 Little Marryat Road on July 30, 2012 between 10 AM and 1:30 PM while the owner was at the pool. The side garage door had been locked and the burglar used a tool to break the door from the frame. Every drawer and closet had been opened on both floors. A laptop and jewelry were taken along with a pillowcase, probably used to carry the loot. The car was in the garage and the house/car keys were on the counter and never touched.
These were brazen attacks and we are asking all residents to make sure to lock their cars and homes, close their garage doors at night, and be vigilant. Please be aware of strange cars/trucks or individuals loitering in the area. If you see anything suspicious, please contact the Cary Police Department or the Sheriff's Department - depending on where you live. Also, if you noticed anything unusual the morning of the most recent robbery, or believe you have any information that may be helpful - you can contact the Cary Police Department directly or contact Bob Baker at troutvalleyblasts@gmail.com.
