Cary Park District to Host Beach Themed Luau Party
July 19

 

The Cary Park District pool will turn into a luau themed beach party. Luau Day at the Pool will be held on Friday, July 19 from 12:00 - 5:00 pm at the Cary pool at the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, Cary.

 

Activities for the day include swimming, shaved ice, raffles, hula hoop contests, and limbos. From 1:30 - 4:30 pm, Peaches Beach Party, a one man band playing the hits of Jimmy Buffet, Van Morrison, The Beach Boys, and others, will perform on the pool deck. The first twenty-five guests will receive a free Luau Day T-shirt.

 

Admission is half-price the daily admission fee for the afternoon.

ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR

WHERE: Lions Park, 100 Beachway Drive, Fox River Grove

COST & INFO: 37th annual event sponsored by the Fox River Grove Lions Club. More than 70 crafters will be at the fair, and there will be children's activities. WHEN: 5 p.m. to midnight July 20

WHERE: Emricson Park, Woodstock

COST & INFO: Fundraiser hosted by the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation to benefit cancer awareness, education, treatment and research. Must be age 21 or older to attend. Cary Village Board Waives Building Permit Fees for Storm Damaged Properties

(from the Cary News Weekly)

Due to the unprecedented rain event that took place on June 26, 2013, the Cary Village Board has issued a waiver of building permit fees for properties impacted by the storm.

 

"The residents and businesses of Cary need to begin repairs to their property as quickly as possible and the Village Board wants to expedite the process for those affected by this storm," stated Mayor Mark Kownick.

 

Permits may be obtained over the counter at Village Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, provided that contractors applying for the permits are registered with the Village and provide basic information regarding the work to be performed.  Residents are encouraged to contact Village staff at 847.639.1100 to determine if a permit is required.



Part-time Customer Service Representative Job Open

The Village of Cary is seeking a part-time (15 - 20 hours per week) customer service representative to assist in the front office operations of the Village. The salary is $15/hr, with no fringe benefits.

 

The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service skills and computer skills which include Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with MSI accounting software is desirable but not required. Must have the ability to assist and work with Village residents and staff in a courteous and professional manner. Must be able to multi-task and work independently. This position operates under the general supervision of the Finance Manager.

 

Duties include, but not limited to, customer service and cashier functions, assisting in water billing and accounts receivable/payable functions, typing correspondence, maintaining various Village records and other general clerical duties as assigned.
