Welcome to the new Trout Valley News!
As you can see, there is a new look to the news in Trout Valley! This change is actually a testament to the skills and dedication of Marian Liataud and Angela Nordgren - those two ladies set the communications bar very high! Thanks, Marian and Angela, for getting out those lovely newsletters every month, like clockwork.
We're introducing a new format for sharing news, hoping you'll find this to be an easy way to read about what's going on in our neighborhood, as well as being less time-consuming to produce. The sidebar to the right provides a link to the Trout Valley website, so we're also hoping residents will begin to explore the website more often to get information about our community.
Vernie Vadnais has stepped up to be the Editor of the Trout Valley News - thanks, Vernie, for getting this first edition launched! You've done a terrific job, and I'm sure everyone will appreciate hearing what's going on around the Valley!
Laurie Almeraz
Trout Valley Association President
A Few Notes About This New Format
In order to view these newsletter graphics, you may have to click something in your email to "allow images." Because all mobile devices vary, you may see color or formatting differences on those devices. You may need to "download" the rest of the newsletter at the bottom of the email on iPhones. You should be able to see a panel of articles on the left and a side bar on the right.
Please help us collect email addresses from neighbors who may not be receiving this newsletter. If you wish to change or update your own email, there is a link in the footer below.
The issues will go out on Fridays, although we don't yet know if we will need one every Friday. We welcome news from the neighborhood, including the news of new babies, kudos for kids, events, club activities, board activities, etc. We will continue to add links as information is updated, such as the budget and minutes from meetings. Wednesday will be the cutoff date for an issue that goes out on a Friday. There is a link at the bottom with the email address for submitting articles and/or photos for the newsletter.

The Trout Valley Tennis Club will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the tennis courts in August of 2013, and some new and exciting things are being planned!
We have many excellent tennis players right here in Trout Valley as well as intermediates, beginners and plenty of kids (both young and grownup too) just ready to learn how to play this wonderful game. In years past many FUN events and casual get togethers have taken place at our tennis courts, and we are looking forward to continuing this tradition of fun and healthy competition.
Rejuvenation of the tennis court area will be taking place right alongside the remodeling of the boat club marina. Badly needed resurfacing of the courts and refurbishment of the viewer stands will begin in the spring.
In an effort to raise money to assist in these projects as well as a little landscape uplift, several fundraisers are in the works. We hope that you, the Valley neighbors, will actively join in and support these efforts. Remember that even if you don't play tennis, the condition of the tennis facility affects the appearance of the community as well as all our property values...and if you don't play tennis...why not? Professionally taught lessons for all ages and levels will be offered in the coming summer.
Please contact us with any questions.

The Tennis Bunco Evening in February was a great success! Thank you to all who attended the evening of dice, raffles, drinks and fun!
We also appreciate all of those who contributed to help us improve this wonderful Trout Valley amenity.
On May 18, we will have a kick-off party at the courts and lodge. Please watch for additional information.

New Years Eve Gala Summary
The Trout Valley News Year Gala was a HUGE success! Just over 80 people participated in the night filled with gambling, tasting the gourmet buffet, drinking from the bottomless open bar and dancing. More than 65 items were donated for the silent auction, raising over $10,000.00 for the pool.
Many people made this event possible. Without the efforts of our community residents, it wouldn't have been so successful. Special thanks to Anna Cummings, Michelle Mackey, George & Nedda Zahn, Jane & Ken Zoerner, Paul Nicholson, Kate Barret, Jimmy Bartlett, new resident Leyla Wheelhouse, Sheri Reff, Kaye Heinhold, Cheryl Lynch, Leslie Holiday, Michelle Greenwald, Matt & Megan Cummings. Your time & efforts were much appreciated. Lastly, a BIG thank you for all the individuals & TV Clubs who created & donated gift baskets, residents who offered their spectacular vacation homes, corporate donations & gift cards, and other individual auction item donations.
Thank you again for your support in making this evening a success!!!

8th Grade Graduation Party for 2013
It is time to plan the party!
We need to know if you have an 8th grade student graduating this year, we have to pick a date and reserve the lodge ASAP. If we are lucky, we can still get the tent from Algonquin Township. Due to everyone's busy schedules and the fact that we have multiple schools dances and graduation dates to consider, we had better pick a date and get a count of kids fast. It is only a few months away!!!!!
Please e-mail Kate Barrett at
k-barrett@comcast.net or call 847-712-2141, if you have an 8th grade student. ALL PARENTS NEED TO PARTICIPATE. This is for our kids. Let's have a quick meeting and pick a date.
Task List :
How many kids?
Pick a date
Reserve lodge / tent
Invitations, food, decorations, music, activities etc..........

Changes to the Association's Board
Due to new and very challenging personal issues, Melissa Weir has resigned her Board position to focus her energy in support of her family; her resignation was effective February 19.
At the February 25 meeting, the Board appointed Richard Krautsack to fill the open seat until the election of new Board members in September; at that time, the Association membership will vote on a Board member to complete the term through September 2015. A new Secretary has not yet been identified.

Call the Sheriff
If you are aware of a problem in the community, it's imperative to call the McHenry County Sheriff to ensure they have a record of the problem. If your home is burglarized, you witness vandalism, you see people loitering down by the river, please inform the Sheriff. Maintaining a connection with the Sheriff's office helps to ensure the security of our community. The Sheriff's non-emergency number is 815-338-2144.

From the Forestry Committee
The Trout Valley Forestry committee is pleased to let everyone know that an Autumn Blaze Maple, 2 Norwegian Red Maples and a Ft. McNair Horse Chestnut have been recently planted in the lower valley. The four beautiful new trees are located by the lodge and polo field, with one near the baseball field.
The Forestry Committee is a joint effort between the Village and Association whose mission is to preserve, protect and plant trees in the Valley. We hope that all of you will notice and enjoy these lovely new additions to our landscape!

From the Pond Committee
In late November the pond committee stocked trout ponds 2-4 with beautiful trout. A special thanks to Mike Robinson, owner of Keystone Hatcheries of Richmond IL., and Kerry Johnson. They provided Trout Valley with an exceptional value. The quality, size, and quantity of fish for the dollar were out of this world!
John Liautaud once again donated over 55,000 minnows which were pumped into Tom Sawyer last Friday. John's stewardship of our ponds provides all of us with excellent fishing throughout the year. Please let him know how much you appreciate his thoughtfulness. Thanks John!
All fishing in TV is catch and release, barbless hooks required, Tom Sawyer is the only "non fly fishing" pond. Please practice up most care with trout. All non-residents must have a resident present to fish.

More Information
River Road becomes one-way when it snows
When it snows, remember that traffic on River Road becomes one-way (down hill) from Stonegate Road to Trout Valley Road (at the bridge). With River Road being so narrow and the incline so steep, going uphill puts you and those driving down River Road in danger. Once the weather improves and the roads are cleared, the restriction is lifted.
|
Deed Restriction of the month:
NO SEPARATE OR TEMPORARY STRUCTURES FOR USE OR OCCUPANCY.
No outside toilets, outhouses, sheds, shacks or temporary structures of any nature shall be used
or occupied for any purpose whatever upon any lot in said real estate.
