:: SPECIAL FEATURE ::

ECO-$MART, INC.
IS THE REAL DEAL!

ONE OF OUR LONGEST STANDING SUPPORTERS + PARTNERS

Eco-$mart, Inc. has been leading the way in energy-efficient lighting and materials for a long time.  In fact, Eco-$mart has been home to high performance buildings since 1993.

Eco-$mart, Inc. has been supporting the Florida House since 1994.

It all started when Eco-$mart generously donated energy-efficient lighting for the Florida House prior to its original grand opening in 1994.  Shortly thereafter, Eco-$mart also donated  sustainable, earth-friendly flooring such as cork, bamboo, and teak coconut palm for the master bedroom and bath.

Eco-$mart, Inc. is at it again!

You won't believe all the cool lighting and flooring Eco-$mart is donating to the NEW Florida House demonstration showroom.  We are all in for a serious treat!

Eco-$mart is donating more of the latest, most energy-efficient LED lighting which will save 50-75% of the energy that existing lighting expends and lasts 2 to 5 times longer! Energy-efficient lighting technology has seriously improved since the inception of the Florida House.  Eco-$mart stays on top of its game and is outfitting the new Florida House with all the latest and greatest in lighting, such as:

Office lighting

Main room up lighting

Recessed, canned lighting

Track lighting

Interior and exterior lighting

&

Color-changing flood lights with remote control to change colors and features for our solar canopy, such as seen here:

And there's more!

Eco-$smart is donating more earth-friendly flooring!  For the new Florida House, Eco-$mart is providing more cork flooring that will cover the main room and replace some of the coconut palm floor in the master bedroom.  This time it will be the latest strand-woven coconut palm, as pictured below with the really cute dog!

And there's even more!

Eco-$mart isn't stopping there.  Eco-$mart is also donating recycled rubber flagstones for the garden.  These attractive and durable

pavers are made from recycled tires but look like stepping stones!

"The Florida House Institute has been a mentor to Eco-$mart since we first were introduced in 1994, one year after starting our business.  We are honored to be able to contribute materials to the Learning Center for display to the public and the design community, and look forward to the re-opening of this local treasure."

SARASOTA COUNTY OFFERS
DIY
ENERGY + WATER AUDIT KITS AT LIBRARIES!

PRESS RELEASE MAY 2, 2014
                             --------------------------

Do It Yourself

County offers audit kits for citizens to check energy, water use at home.

SARASOTA COUNTY - Sarasota County is now offering do-it-yourself (DIY) energy and water use audit kits for checkout at Sarasota County libraries.

"The kits and the accompanying Home Energy and Water Evaluation Guide have been created to provide area residents with a simple and economical way to evaluate their home energy and water use," said Lee Hayes Byron, Sarasota County Sustainability. "Plus, users can learn about more ways they can save resources and money."

The kits are a part of the Sarasota County Energy Upgrade program, which provides residents with various levels of information on residential resource-saving opportunities.

The program's website, www.EnergyUpgradeToday.com, offers in-depth, room-by-room energy-saving tips, in-person workshops, Family Sustainability Kits and other resources.

The DIY audit kit available at county libraries is intended to serve those residents who have already gone beyond those first-level actions and are ready for the next step. The kit is designed for homeowners who would like to go much further into detail in analyzing their home's energy and water use and quantifying savings, said Byron.

It provides a step-by-step guide, as well as the technical equipment necessary to determine specific energy and water use profiles and solutions for the home. The guide is broken into two sections: the Energy Audit and the Water Audit.

"Residents may choose to focus on only one or the other for now, or to address both at the same time. The two sections are designed to function independently to allow you that flexibility," said Byron. "The kit and guide, however, are not intended to be a replacement for professional services. Our residents' safety is a top priority; so if they don't feel comfortable performing a guided task during the evaluation then they should stop the process."

The kits, which offer tools for residences to learn more about saving money on their electric and water bills while lessening their impact on the environment, include:
