Meaningful Use Attestation
Deadlines approaching       

If you are an eligible professional (EP), the last day you can register and attest to demonstrating meaningful use for the 2014 Medicare EHR Incentive Program is Feb. 28, 2015. You must successfully attest by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Feb. 28 to receive an incentive payment for your 2014 participation. Read the full story...

Hospitals Must Start Medicare EHR Participation in 2015 to Earn Incentives      

Not participating in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program yet? 2015 is the last year for eligible hospitals to begin and still earn incentive payments.
To earn a 2015 incentive payment and avoid a 2016 payment adjustment, first-time participants should:

 

  • Begin their 90-day reporting period no later than April 1, 2015
  • Attest by July 1, 2015
Sign-up for Meaningful Use Registration System (MURS) by midnight, March 1, 2015
To claim Meaningful Use incentive dollars, Illinois providers are required to use the Meaningful Use Registration System (https://murs.illinois.gov) to identify the public health measures being used use for 2015 attestation.
- Providers in Stage 2 must complete registration within 60 days of the start of their reporting period. For 2015, that is by midnight, March 1, 2015.
- Providers in Stage 1 may complete registration anytime during their reporting period.

ONC issues draft nationwide health IT Interoperability Roadmap
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) recently released Connecting Health and Care for the Nation: A Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap Version 1.0. The draft Roadmap is a proposal to deliver better care and result in healthier people through the safe and secure exchange and use of electronic health information. The draft Roadmap and Standards Advisory are available for viewing at www.healthit.gov/interoperability. The public comment period for the draft Roadmap closes April 3, 2015. CMS Announces Intent to Engage in Rulemaking for EHR Incentive Program Changes for 2015
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to engage in rulemaking this spring to help ensure providers continue to meet meaningful use requirements. In response to input from health care providers and other stakeholders, CMS is considering changes to the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. Electronic Clinical Quality Improvement
(eCQI) Resource Center launched

The Electronic Clinical Quality Improvement (eCQI) Resource Center was launched in February 2015 by HHS. This web-based tool will provide:

  • Centralized One-Stop-Shop location for electronic quality resources
  • List of electronic clinical quality measures and their specifications
  • Links to tools for measure development, testing, and certification
The intent of the resource center is to provide a central repository for eCQI resources in an effort to reduce burden for the eCQI community and improve user experience by connecting related activities and streamlining the process for obtaining guidance and feedback. Note that eCQI Resource Center will be enhanced in a phased approach. Read more...
