IL-HITREC Ranks 5th Nationally |
|
The Illinois Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (IL-HITREC) ranks fifth in the nation for RECs by the percentage of Priority Primary Care Providers (PPCPs) at M3. IL-HITREC is at 59 percent of its goal of 1,300 PPCPs reaching M3. Tied for the fifth place ranking with IL-HITREC is Pennsylvania's REACH West, also at 59 percent. The rankings were released in February by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information technology's Health Information Technology Research Center (HITRC). IL-HITREC is one of 62 RECs funded by ONC to help more than 100,000 primary care providers adopt and use electronic health records (EHRs).
Eligible providers who adopt and meaningfully use EHRs may receive incentive payments through the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. Providers do not have to become technology experts to achieve meaningful use of EHRs; IL-HITREC and other RECs provide them with on-the-ground assistance. In addition to meeting its PPCP sign-up target number of 1,300, IL-HITREC has helped 1,189 PPCPs reach "Go-Live" with their certified EHR, as well as Meaningful Use Attestation from 611 PPCPs. |
