IL-HITREC CASE STUDY:
                  Peoria's Human Service Center
CASE STUDY:  Human Service Center of Peoria (HSC) is realizing an increase in referrals within six weeks of being engaged in a pilot program designed to test the integration of services with a local hospital through electronic health information exchange. In spite of not yet having a fully functional electronic health record or robust capabilities for the exchange of information HSC is discovering the potential for increased efficiency in the referral process. It also realizes more business could be generated which could potentially result in a significant impact its bottom line. Working out the many organizational and exchange process details with its exchange partner in this pilot continues to be one of HSC's ongoing challenges. Read the complete article
Holloway Recognized for Efforts

 

 

Roger Holloway

Roger Holloway, Co-Director of IL-HITREC, was recognized as a "Critical Access & Rural Hospital Champion" at the recent annual meeting of The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). Holloway received a Certificate of Appreciation Nov. 30, in Washington, D.C. He was recognized for "groundbreaking collaborative efforts with public and private sector partners to accelerate Meaningful Use among Critical Access Hospitals and other small, rural hospitals nationwide."

CMS releases Stage 2 MU Spec Sheets with details 

CMS has added Stage 2 Meaningful Use specification sheets for both eligible professionals (EPs) and for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to help them participate in Stage 2 of meaningful use in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. CMS 2014 CQM Page; new CQM resources

CMS recently announced the release of the 2014 clinical quality measures for providers in the Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs. Along with posting the specific measures on the 2014 CQMs page, CMS has created additional resources to help providers understand the 2014 CQMs, as well as the specifications for electronic reporting. HealthIT.gov 'Buzz Blog'

HealthIT.gov has linked to video of a Staten Island woman whose home was destroyed and who found priceless family pictures and other documents in the rubble. Part of the blog reads: "In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, people on the East Coast, especially those in New York and New Jersey, will be busy this Thanksgiving rebuilding their lives, so our thoughts are with them."
