Good News for Grizzlies and People Too!
November 2012
|
Y2Y Friend,
This November, we at Y2Y have a number of good news stories to share with you; the most exciting of which is the appointment of our new President - Karsten Heuer.
Karsten Heuer is a scientist, adventurer, public speaker and best-selling writer and he will be officially welcomed as Y2Y's President in January of 2013. Heuer has a long history with Y2Y and played a critical role in framing the organization in 1998. We are thrilled that the past will help build our future, and that Heuer will lead us through this next phase of our conservation journey.
Also in this edition of Connections E-newsletter, we feature four successful outcomes that are not only great news for the North American grizzly, but also for other wildlife species and people.
This includes a recent land purchase, known as Frog-Bear Conservation Area, that is undoubtedly one of Y2Y's most important conservation outcomes of the year. The purchase protects a threatened grizzly population along Canada-US border in British Columbia, as well as the endangered northern leopard frog.
We are also thrilled to share with you the many conservation advancements we made last year in our 2011 Annual Report.
Finally, we pay tribute to the late Ted Smith: a man whose commitment, mentorship and vision were integral to the development of Y2Y.
Yours in conservation, Wendy Francis, Program Director
