Lawrence High School Superior Court is in session...
Hear ye, hear ye! The first of two Mock Trial court cases unfolded Tuesday, June 7 in the Lawrence High School (LHS) library. Students in one of Ms. Clarke's, LHS social studies teacher, You and the Law classes transformed into attorneys, witnesses, jurors, a defendant and a bailiff. Various administrators also served as jurors and Judge (parent) Robin Bridges Johnson presided over the proceedings. The jury found the defendant "not guilty" in the case involving murder and domestic violence. Mock Trial cases are derived from actual cases (with the names changed). The decision rendered by the Lawrence Superior Court jury was the same as the outcome in the actual case. View slideshow.

The Lawrence High School Superior Court will be in session again on June 13 as another of Ms. Clarke's You and the Law classes will try a different case.
