May 19 event in Lawrenceville that may impact traffic and district programs
As you may have heard, on Thursday, May 19 the National Guard Armory on Eggerts Crossing Road is hosting an event involving Presidential candidate Donald Trump and NJ Governor Chris Christie. It's our understanding the event starts at 5PM. We have been in touch with the Lawrence police to get information as to how our area will be impacted and will continue to communicate with them as the event nears.
Here is what we know now. We may experience traffic delays, particularly in the vicinity of Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS). We therefore have recommended all LIS students assigned to a bus take the bus home that day. If LIS parents/guardians usually pick up their child, we request they do so before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Again, this is for LIS students only. All LIS PTO-sponsored clubs and other LIS after-school activities are cancelled for May 19.
We have contacted the YWCA after-school program and are awaiting their plan for LIS students who normally stay after school in the program.
Destinations programs at all schools and the Eagles program are cancelled for May 19.
Athletic practices or games scheduled on May 19 for Zimmer Field off Eggerts Crossing Road are either cancelled or relocated. If you have questions, please contact Gregg Zenerovitz at (609) 671-5516 x2650.
If you have questions or concerns about district plans for May 19, please contact Andrew Zuckerman at (609) 671-5410 or azuckerman@ltps.org. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as we receive additional information. As always, we appreciate your support and cooperation.
