Green makes US ODP Soccer team
Congratulations to Lawrence High School (LHS) junior Joelle Green, who recently earned a spot on New Jersey's State Olympic Development Program (ODP) Soccer team!

Since 1977, the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program has helped identify potential national team youth players through an organized series of trials which began at the district or local level, then progress through the state, region and finally the national level. The program also serves as a means of development as the players identified are brought together for training and prepared for interstate, interregional and international competitions.
LIS students present Walk This Way data to Town Council
In October 2015, all 4th grade students at Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) participated in the Walk This Way program by taking a walk around the local roads bordering the school. The program was coordinated by FedEx, St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, Greater Mercer Transportation Authority, Lawrence Township Police Department and 4th grade House Leader and Gifted & Talented teacher Jessica Heller.
In order to inspect pedestrian safety, all 300 4th grade students completed a survey. The 4th grade Gifted & Talented class compiled the data from the paper surveys into graphs using a google spreadsheet and analyzed the results. Students then put the results, along with their suggestions for improving the walkways, into a PowerPoint presentation, which they presented to the Lawrence Town Council on April 19 in the Municipal Building. The project is an example of a cross-curricular program involving health safety, statistics, technology and civic participation. View the students' PowerPoint presentation here.
