LIS student raises $1300 for TASK
Over a three week period, Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) 5th grader Jordan Wilson raised more than $1300 in donations for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). Jordan and his mother participated in the 3rd Annual Mercer County Turkey Trot charitable run on Thanksgiving morning. While all 922 participants' entry fees were donated to charity, Jordan took it one step further by raising $1300 in additional contributions, making him responsible for approximately 40% of the total $3700 in additional donations raised!

Slackwood students sweep poster contest
Three Slackwood Elementary School students received awards in the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Anti-Bullying poster contest. Olivia Kaczynska, 3rd grade, was selected to have her poster featured on the cover of the 2016 calendar that will be printed by the Prosecutor's office. Kindergartener Yordi Estebes took 2nd place in the K-2 division, and 2nd grader Ridhima Pandey placed 3rd. The students will be recognized at a ceremony at the Prosecutor's Office on December 14.

Kindergarten registration begins January 4. If your child will be five years old on or before October 1, 2016, he/she is eligible to attend Kindergarten in Lawrence Township Public Schools beginning in September 2016. Begin the pre-registration process here.
LTEA and BOE approve contract
The Lawrence Township Public Schools (LTPS) Board of Education (BOE) and the Lawrence Township Education Association (LTEA) have approved the tentative contract settlement reached at the end of September. LTEA members have been working under the terms and conditions of the 2011-2014 LTEA/BOE contract. The LTEA ratified the new three-year contract on November 11, 2015 and the BOE convened a special meeting on November 23, 2015 to approve the agreement. The recent agreement will expire June 30, 2017. See news release for the general terms of the agreement.

A Journey Through Time Science Night
Lawrence High School's (LHS) STEM Academy presents "A Journey Through Time!" Walk through the history of science...witness cool discoveries made along the way. Maybe you will build the best catapult with ancient scientists or design the perfect parachute with DaVinci, plant the quickest growing plant or build the first personal computer...at Science Night, you never know where (or when) you'll end up!
 
Join the LHS STEM Academy on Friday, December 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. 

This is a FREE yearly event hosted by the STEM Academy as a way to promote science in the community, and is designed for elementary school students in grades K through 6. Please pre-register at http://tinyurl.com/q3bth6.  See flyer.
LHS Financial Aid Night
The Lawrence High School (LHS) Guidance Department invites you to attend its annual Financial Aid Night on December 10, at 7PM in the LHS Auditorium.
 
A representative from the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (NJHESAA) will present all the latest updates and information on financial aid, grants, scholarships, and loans. You can also take advantage of HESAA's publications online by viewing and downloading guides at: www.hesaa.org; www.njclass.org and www.njgrants.org.

The Lawrence High School Drama Department performs an audience interactive murder mystery.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas
Lawrence Middle School (LMS) music teacher, Melissa Clark; her son, Hayden [5th gr. Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS)]; and daughter, Aimee (1st gr. Slackwood Elementary), as well as Makenzie Ivey (6th gr. LIS) and Peyton Ivey (3rd gr. Ben Franklin Elementary) will perform in a musical production of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas at the Kelsey Theatre this weekend, December 4-6. 

This production has been at the Kelsey Theatre for over 20 years. Hayden started with the show when he was 6 years old and will perform for the fifth time this year. Melissa and Aimee will make their third appearance. See flyer for ticket information. Read more in Lawrenceville Patch article.
Princeton TUBACHRISTMAS
For the 3rd consecutive year, Lawrence Middle School band director Ron Taglairino is coordinating Princeton TUBACHRISTMAS at the MarketFair Mall on Saturday, December 5 from 1-2PM. TUBACHRISTMAS is a free concert of holiday melodies performed by both tuba and other low brass valved instruments, such as baritone and euphonium. It began in 1974 in New York City and has evolved into an event coordinated and celebrated around the country and around the world.
 
Last year, over 50 audience members stopped to listen, in addition to those who continued to shop while enjoying the warm sounds of low brass instruments. If you are interested in performing, please contact Ron at rontaglairino@gmail.com. Read more about TUBACHRISTMAS at www.tubachristmas.com.
Township Tree Lighting
Join the Mayor and members of the Town Council for the annual tree lighting ceremony, including a performance by the Lawrence High School (LHS) Madrigal singers, on Sunday, December 6, at 6PM. See flyer.
Holidays in the Village
Lawrenceville Main Street will host the 18th annual Holidays in the Village on Sunday, December 6, from 2-4PM in Weeden Park.
 
Santa & Mrs. Claus will be there to take photos and collect wish lists, while local Girl Scouts and the Lawrence High School ensemble choir sing carols. There will be a craft table, as well as holiday treats and hot cocoa from Fedora Café. See flyer for this free event.
Lawrence Junior Baseball & Softball - register now for Spring 2016
Lawrence Township Junior Baseball & Softball (Lawrence Little League Baseball/Softball & Babe Ruth Baseball) Spring 2016 registration is underway. Register prior to December 11 and save $35.00 off the standard registration fee. Registration is open to all players ages 5-15.

Lawrence Lacrosse Club - register by Dec. 19 for discount
Registration is now open for Lawrence Lacrosse Club's 2016 spring programs. Programs are available for boys and girls Pre-K through Grade 8 from Lawrence Township and surrounding communities that do not currently offer lacrosse programs.
