Slackwood School welcomes Eco Del Sur
On April 29, the musical group Eco Del Sur of Morrisville, PA conducted morning workshops with Slackwood 3rd graders and then performed in an afternoon assembly with students.

Eco Del Sur, whose band members come from various countries in South America, performs music of the Andes and Latin America using traditional and contemporary musical instruments. The music includes a wide range of styles and rhythms, such as cumbias, joropos, guajiras, huaynos, valz, sanjuanitos, and more.

The workshops and assembly were funded by a grant from the Lawrence Township Education Foundation (LTEF).
LHS students host workshop at Dare to Dream Conference

Lawrence High School (LHS) Transition Services student workers recently hosted a Job Application Workshop at the Dare to Dream Conference. The workshop included a short presentation, a game where participants identified  the do's and don'ts of filling out job applications, practice job applications from over 10 local employers, a job application review with the LHS Job Coach, a "Tips for Filling Out Job Applications" magnet and a life sized practice job application. Throughout the workshop, students exhibited a strong sense of professionalism, teamwork, communication, problem solving and social skills as they worked with other Dare to Dream Conference attendees.

May 20 - Middle School 101 - Curriculum Night (Academic Course Guide) 7PM

LHS Career Academies Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser

The LHS Career Academies will host a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee's, Route 1 in Lawrenceville, on Saturday, May 16 from 8-10AM. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from Mr. Cimorelli (mcimorelli@ltps.org), Mr. Wolf (dwolf@ltps.org), or Mrs. Laird (klaird@ltps.org). The cost is $5 for children/students and $10 for adults.  Proceeds will benefit the LHS Career Academies.

Hepatitis A - Outbreak in Tulum, Mexico

As of May 1, 2015, a total of 27 cases of hepatitis A have been reported in US travelers who went to Tulum, Mexico. All of the people traveled between February 15, 2015 and March 20, 2015. CDC recommends that travelers to Mexico get vaccinated against Hepatitis A and follow all food and water precautions. If an individual has returned from Tulum, Mexico in the last 14 days, he/she should be advised to talk to his/her health care provider about receiving a dose of hepatitis A vaccine, which can prevent or reduce the symptoms of hepatitis A if given within 14 days of exposure.
