LIS Concert Orchestra & Band students selected for CJMEA Honors Festivals

Selected students from the Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) Orchestra and Band along with their director, Allison Kershner, recently participated in the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) one-day Honors Orchestra Festival at East Brunswick High School and the CJMEA one-day Honors Band Festival at Rahway 7th & 8th Grade Academy.

Ms. Kershner nominated students based on their performances in the LIS Orchestra or Band and CJMEA selected festival participants from the nominees. Once selected, students were placed into either the Philharmonic or Symphony orchestra or the Red, White or Blue band. Students received their music a few weeks before each festival so they had time to practice. On festival days, students rehearsed with other students from Central New Jersey schools and performed in concerts together at the end of the festival day.
