LTPS wins big at Mercer Science and Engineering Fair 
Students from Lawrence Intermediate
School (LIS), Lawrence Middle School (LMS) and Lawrence High School (LHS) showcased the talent here at LTPS by winning several top awards at the 2015 Mercer Science and Engineering Fair held at Rider University on March 17. Fair participants prepare a research paper and presentation board that are judged by professional scientists and engineers using a variety of criteria for different awards. The LTPS award winners are:

LIS - Abbilash Shivaparan, Chaiyo Kosinski, Kaia Dyckman

LMS - Aluen Tomat-Kelly, Anusha Aggarwal, Teddy Masterson

LHS - James Gow, Pranav Sabanayagam

 

James Gow is the 1st Runner-up to the overall Grand Prize winner in the Senior Division! The Grand Prize winner will compete with over 1600 finalists at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, PA in May. See the awards they won here.

LHS students create, debate and  legislate in Model Congress
Five Lawrence High School (LHS) students earned leadership positions at the New Jersey Model Congress recently, including the position of overall Senate President. Who are they and what positions did they earn? Learn here


It's still "...About That Bass" - Teddy Masterson now accepted to All State Orchestra
Lawrence Middle School (LMS) 8th grade double bass player Teddy Masterson has been accepted into the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) Intermediate All State Orchestra. Teddy performed with the Intermediate All State Orchestra as a 7th grader and placed 3rd chair. This year, he moved up to 2nd chair. In January, Teddy auditioned for the CJMEA Regional Orchestra and placed 1st chair in the Chamber Orchestra, which qualified him to audition for the Intermediate All State Orchestra. Teddy is an active member of the LMS Orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Melissa Clark.

Cotsen Children's Library writing contest
The Cotsen Children's Library at Princeton University invites students ages 9 to 14 to participate in it's annual "350 for 50" writing competition. Write a short, 350-word story that includes the sentence, "There was a rattling noise." Winning stories from three age categories will be illustrated and published in the Summer 2015 issue of the Picture Book Press and on the Pop Goes the Page creative blog. Winners will also enjoy a $50 shopping spree at Labyrinth Books. See flyer for details.

Don't forget to include your medicine cabinet in your spring cleaning routine - discard unwanted medications safely by using Lawrence Township's medication drop-off box, located in the Police Department lobby. See flyer for details.
