Donahue Takes Silver at Special Olympics 2014 USA Games

Rawles Breaks Tie to Win Spelling Bee

Eldridge Park (EP) first grade students shared books that they wrote and illustrated with members of the Board of Education (BOE) at their May meeting. Students worked with Angeline Sturgis (ESL teacher) and Lisa Adams (K teacher) during the Explorations afterschool program. Following the writing process, students handwrote their stories and then edited, illustrated, and published them. Book titles were as diverse as "Michelle the Fairy," "The Three Dinosaurs," and "Good vs. Evil."

Summer Assignments for All Grade Levels

LMS/LHS Summer Math & Science Assignments

All rising 7th and 8th grade students are required to complete a Summer Math Packet. Students should complete the assignment for the course they are entering in September. September math placement can be found on your child's report card or in a letter you received with this information. Summer math assignments are listed here on the Lawrence Middle School (LMS) website.
Most Lawrence High School (LHS) math classes also have a required summer assignment. Students are to complete the assignment for next year's math class that was determined when they met with their guidance representative to create their academic schedule for the 2014-15 school year. There are also summer assignments for AP Biology, AP Chemistry and AP Environmental Science. LHS summer assignments are posted on the school's website via the links below:

Slackwood Students' Artwork Displayed at TCNJ Art Exhibition

Slackwood students, Ariyanna Square, a kindergartener in Miss Cook's class and Evan Carter, a third grader in Mrs. Ramirez's class had their artwork accepted for display in Art, Innovation, and Ideas, an art exhibition for New Jersey's K-12 students going on now through June 22 at the College of New Jersey's (TCNJ) art gallery.
The statewide exhibition celebrates innovative art-making that connects student learning and art to the real world, academic subjects, social issues, big ideas, and contemporary art. Ms. Lee-You, Slackwood's Art Specialist, submitted works from some of the school's most talented students. Students attended a special reception at the gallery on June 8.

AP Bio Students Visit Pine Barrens

Lawrence High School (LHS) science teacher Debra Randall took AP Biology students canoeing through the NJ Pine Barrens after they extensively researched this unique local ecosystem. They presented information on everything from the Pine Barrens history and commerce to the fragile ecological communities and the threatened wildlife.

2nd Episode of The Work Wonders Project Documentary Featuring LIS Students is Released

Microsoft released the second of three episodes of The Work Wonders Project documentary on June 17. The documentary about cloud-based education features Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) 5th graders in Joe Jamison's class. View the second episode here.
