Artist Mel Leipzig visits LHS

The faculty of Lawrence High's (LHS) Academy of Arts and Humanities hosted Resident Artist Mel Leipzig at LHS this spring. Mr. Leipzig visited the school once a week to work on a painting of the high school environment at LHS as well as to teach about painting. During one visit he spoke to students about the life of a professional artist. He also discussed the process of beginning a painting. The program was funded through Academy monies.
Mel Leipzig studied at the Cooper Union and received his MFA from Yale University in 1958 and a MFA from Pratt Institute in 1972. He has received numerous awards, including a Fulbright Traveling Fellowship, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, a Merit Award for Associated Artists of New Jersey, and several fellowship awards from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Tomat-Kelly takes 3rd place in state poster contest 
Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) 6th grader Aluen Tomat-Kelly was awarded 3rd Place in the New Jersey Soil Conservatory Poster Contest. She recently attended a luncheon and tour at the Trenton State Museum with the other state-wide winners, where she received a certificate and a citation from the 15th New Jersey State Legislative District.

Nook distribution announcement
Attention incoming English II Honors students: Nooks and summer assignments will be handed out. Both students and parents must be present to receive the Nooks and assignments.
Dates: Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11
Time: 6-8 pm
Location: LTPS Technology Center at Lawrence High School
The Nooks were funded by an Lawrence Township Education Foundation (LTEF) grant.

Secondary Math Night PowerPoint available

On April 29, the district hosted a discussion for parents of 4-7th grade students regarding the district's secondary math program. Project Graduation - attention senior parents:
Project Graduation, the all night alcohol- and drug-free celebration for the graduating seniors of Lawrence High School, will be held on June 18, starting at 11:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 a.m. on June 19.
Please Note: Project Graduation is not a "lock-in." Students wishing to leave will be allowed to do so. However, we will make one attempt to contact parents in the event their child wishes to leave. Please include appropriate contact information on registration form.
Project Graduation is free to LHS Seniors. The committee has planned an evening of entertainment including a DJ, games of chance, hypnotist, henna tattoo artist, caricaturists, gifts and food all night.
Seniors may bring a guest; however, there is a $20 charge for guests. Registration forms are available in the Main office and must be returned to the Main Office by Friday, June 13. Questions? Contact Mary Ann O'Brien or visit lhsprojectgraduation.org.

All children grades K - 8 are invited to participate in the 6th Annual Kids Marathon, hosted by Community Education & Outreach of Princeton HealthCare System and Princeton Fitness & Wellness Center. Early registration is $20 per child, $25 per childafter July 1. See flyer.
