Ben Franklin Elementary Awarded US-Taiwan Partnership Flag
Principal Chris Turnbull, Jennifer Dowd from Eco-Schools USA, and 3rd grader Charlotte Luckey proudly display Partnership flag.

On April 13, Ben Franklin Elementary School received an award of the inaugural "US-Taiwan Partnership Flag" from Gina McCarthy, the  Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Minister of the Environmental Protection Authority of Taiwan. Present at the event was Laura Hickey, the Executive Director of Eco-Schools, USA.

The flag recognizes work Ben Franklin has done with its sister school, Jian-An Elementary School in New Taipei, Taiwan. During the ceremony, ten new partnerships were formed between schools in New Jersey and Taiwan as a result of the template Ben Franklin and Jian-An created.

In a Skyped assembly that took place at Jian-An Elementary School on Sunday night our time but Monday morning in Taiwan, Administrator Gina McCarthy thanked the students of Ben Franklin for being leaders in the community and for making a big difference through their work with the Ben Franklin EPA as well as their partnership with Taiwan.
