LIS presents "Once Upon a Mattress"

If you think you know the story of "The Princess and the Pea," think again! Do you know that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night?

Join Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) students as they tell the real story in their spring musical, "Once Upon a Mattress."  Performances are April 3, 4 and 5 at 7PM at LIS. Tickets, sold at the door, are $7 for adults, $5 for students.

LMS Team Wins 5th in State at TSA Competition

Several Lawrence Middle School (LMS) students attended the Technology Student Association (TSA) competition at TCNJ on March 26, where they competed against students from other New Jersey middle schools.

TSA is a national, non-profit organization of middle and high school students who have a strong interest in technology. Competitions feature problems in communications, design and engineering, environmental systems, manufacturing/construction, and transportation. In both team and individual events, students are challenged to use and improve their STEM skills.

The LMS team of Russell Knab, Andrew Sam and Alex Ratzman submitted an entry entitled "Engineering Your Future" in the Website Design category and won 5th Place in the state.

LIS Musicians Accepted to CJMEA Honors Orchestra

Fifteen Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS) orchestra students were accepted to perform in the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) Elementary Honors Orchestra. Along with LIS orchestra director, Allison Kershner, they attended a one day orchestra festival on March 29 at Woodbridge High School. Students were nominated by Ms. Kershner based on their performance in the school orchestra. Accepted students received letters with their placement in either the Philharmonic or Symphony Orchestra, and music to practice before performance day. On the day of the festival, they practiced and then performed with students from 17 other Central Jersey schools.
