District Sets School Make-Up Days Schedule

As the Beatles said: Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter...

Three emergency closing or make-up days (May 23, June 6 & 13) were built into our initial 2013-2014 school calendar. With this challenging winter and our needing additional make-up days, it became necessary for us to revise our calendar and designate additional make-up days.

As of February 14, schools have been closed seven (7) days due to inclement weather. Listed below are the dates we were closed and the make-up dates on which schools will be in session.

Please contact your school principal with questions.

Thanks for working with us as we move through this unusual winter and blasts from Mother Nature.

The A-AFAA is a music teachers' association that was founded in 2004 with a mission to promote the art of Western and Eastern music. Mercer County Wrestling Tournament Update

Last week we gave some results from the Mercer County Wrestling Tournament which took place January 31-February 1. Here is the full list of LHS award winners.

Despite several injuries this season and going into the tournament short 3 wrestlers, strong individual performances on the

Stevens and Thomas

mat enabled the team to place 4th out of 15 teams in the tournament. Earning places for the Cardinals were:

Jordan Stevens (106) and John Thomas (285) - 6th place

Uriel Acevedo (132) and Edwin Gonzalez (126) - 5th place

Acevedo and Gonzalez

Georgy Joachim (160) - 2nd place

Gordon Wolf (138) and Michael Jennings (145) - 1st place in their respective weight classes

This was Wolf's third County Championship. Jennings earned the distinction of becoming LHS's first wrestler to be a four time Mercer County Champion. Gavin Schenck received the Gary Dambro Sportsmanship Award, an honor given to a senior wrestler who works hard and puts it all on the line for his team.
