Strengthening Families Program
Mercer Council is accepting applications to a FREE Strengthening Families Program starting in mid-August at Mercer Council's new office building. This program is for families with at least one child between the ages of 6 and 11. There are 14 sessions that run for 2.5 hours each on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 8pm. Dinner is included and babysitting is provided. Families that attend all sessions will receive a $200 VISA card upon completion. The Strengthening Families Program is a family skills training program designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for behavioral, emotional, academic and social problems in children. SFP comprises three life-skills courses: parents work on parenting skills, children work on life skills, and families together work on family skills. Please note that families must have a military connection in their family -- this could mean an uncle who is a Vietnam Veteran, a cousin in the Marines, a brother-in-law deployed to Afghanistan, etc. See flyer to register. |
