Keep fleas and ticks outside and off of your pets (and your family)
FLEAS, FLEAS, FLEAS! It's that time of year again, when the fleas try to take over the world, one pet at a time. As usual, prevention is much cheaper and easier than treating an infestation. So, lets take a closer look at these little bloodsuckers, and we will make money saving recommendations along the way.
Truth or Myth - if you don't see fleas, you are in the clear..... MYTH - just one female flea can be the cause of a major infestation in your home. You may never know she was there, until her relatives number in the hundreds. Then, just like when your relatives come to stay "for a few weeks" it may take 6 months to a year to kick them out for good. Fleas are best understood with the graphical flea pyramid. The eggs, larvae and pupae can number in the thousands. No product available can kill the flea when it is in it's pupae stage. They can remain in this stage for many months, which is what makes flea eradication so difficult, time consuming, frustrating and costly. Prevention is, of course, the easiest. All Creatures offers many options so we can customize a solution that best fits your lifestyle. Some of the options we offer are:
- Combination products for dogs that cover multiple parasites, such as Trifexis, Advantage Multi and Sentinel Spectrum. These products range in cost from ~$10/dose to ~$24/dose depending on what product you choose and your pet's weight
- Flea/Tick products for dogs such as Frontline Tritak, Advantix and Nexgard offer both topical and oral options to control fleas and ticks.
- Revolution for cats is such an amazing, broad spectrum parasiticide that it is all we recommend for cats. Revolution covers heartworm, fleas, one species of ticks, ear mites, round worms and hookworms in the cat. Wow!
We know heartworm, flea and tick preventatives are confusing, there are many options available to pet owners today. We can help! call or stop in to any of our three locations, we would be happy to customize a prevention plan for your pet! Did you know that if you purchase your heartworm, flea and tick medications from a big box retailer or online, the manufacturer will NOT honor the warranty/guarantee? These are veterinary specific products, and you are only protected by the company if you purchase it from your veterinarian. Call us, we can show you how you will actually save more if you purchase your preventative medications from us. |

He has all the wrinkles of a sharpei with good eyes, no skin issues and the personality of a well mannered lab. He loves other dogs and even backs down to instigators. No personality quirks observed and he loves people, walks good in a crowd and doesn't pull your arm out of the socket! Come and meet the best sharpei in history & see for yourself.Sharpie is currently boarding at our kennel in Mt. Carmel, Eastside Kennels.

The scary truth about ticks
There is nothing scarier than a tick (except maybe clowns)
Ticks are stealthy, silent predators that lay in wait for their prey, sometimes for up to a year, and then they silently drop or crawl onto their victim, and sink in their disease-ridden teeth and eat, and eat, and eat. The longer the tick is embedded the greater the risk of disease transmission. Often you won't even feel the tick crawling on you, they are that stealthy.
Until recently, Lyme Disease wasn't a big concern for us Ohioans. However the feared deer tick is now here, and is here to stay. The big deal about deer ticks is that they aren't big. They are tiny, tiny ticks that are incredibly hard to find. It is estimated that upwards of 50% of deer ticks carry Lyme Disease. Keeping these tiny ticks off of our pets will also protect our families.
Tick Preventative Options
- Frontline Tritak - a topical flea and tick preventative
- Nexgard - an oral flea and tick preventative
- Vectra 3D - a topical flea and tick preventative
- Scalibor Collar- a great addition to pets on Trifexis, Advantage Multi or Sentinel Spectrum

A few cool cases to enjoy...
This adorabl e chihuahua, Sasha, and her owner travel all the way from Indianapolis to see Dr. Linda Meakin as they can't imagine switching vets! Dr. Linda recommended that glaucoma screening be added to Sasha's wellness plan because chihuahuas are prone to getting glaucoma and Dr. Linda doesn't want to get behind on Sasha's preventative care.

This client gets her exercise by bringing her dog to All Creatures on her back! So cute!

Max got in a bit of trouble recently, because he ate the TV remote. Luckily he didn't need surgery, a few cans of pumpkin and some cat lax helped him naturally remove the remote. Glad you are feeling better Max!
Can you name this hollow viscous? A. Trachea B. Esophagus C. Colon D. Small Intestine
Answer: C: Colon. Notice the smooth mucosa and mucus present, very typical for this organ. This was Zoey's normal colon seen during a routine scope because Dr. Meakin was removing her rectal polyp.

Once again top notch service from everyone at All Creatures.
Such sweet and caring folks. The staff is so pleasant and the Vet (whom I had not met before) was just the best! They treated my dog so lovingly. I had questions and he answered them with answers that I could understand - and he took time with me and my dog. I did not feel rushed. I felt like I was in excellent hands. Thank you caring, sweet and knowledgeable staff at All Creatures. THANK YOU! (Dr. Leap)
i was seen on time, questions answered, vet tech and vet friendly and kind
We thank you very much for the care that booger received. We are very happy that he made it through with your help. It means alot that the staff cared enough to call and check on Booger not only once but every day as he was recovering. That's something that previous pets I have had and taken to other vets that we have never experienced. The care and compassion that the entire staff has for all animals is simply amazing. Thank you for the awesome service
The staff goes beyond expectations. The vets take their time and stay until all questions are answered.
Nice staff and found room to add our second dog to their schedule the morning of without a prior appointment. Very pleased!.
they are so loving to my pet and made his stay the best they could. Felix was really sick and im so glad to have him back home doing so much better. Thank you for your care and support with us too. We have found a vet for life!
Staff is friendly, the facility is clean and I feel Max is well cared for when he is at All Creatures.
All Creatures is an excellent veterinary care center. I can get in on the same day. Service was fast and effective. I don't think that Fat Monday agrees with my review he did not enjoy his toe nail trim at all lol!
Dr. England is AWESOME!!! She has taken such good care of my dogs. I know my dogs are in good hands with her. She has always answered all my questions about my dogs and is SO caring towards them. All Creatures in Mt Washington ARE THE BEST they treat my cats like they are people they are WONDERFUL PEOPLE i love taking my cats down there
Our dog Gunther was actually born at All Creatures. We would never consider taking him to another vet. Because of his breed I only trust All Creatures to take care of him. They have a wonderful office and everyone there is so kind and loving to Gunther. The staff always makes over him every time we are in there which makes Gunther LIKE going to the vet. Thank you to everyone at your office for the excellent care you give our baby.
Dr. Corman and the staff at Mt.. Washington are excellent! They have helped my dog through a very difficult illness and were so supportive and helpful. What a truly caring team! Thank you!
Emergency care was quick.
Great place! Good people!
All Creatures is awesome!!!My sister referred me to All Creatures in Amelia, so I took my Terrier Mix to have her groomed since Kalani had a very bad experience with a different place and it was so bad that she went into shock with other place and I had to take her to Vet next day and Vet agreed with me that person had to be very mean to her and they didn't even groom her or anything they just called me 2hours later told me my dog was shaking and getting sick and when I get to her I had to carry her out and they told me to bring her back when they weren't so busy and I had made appointment and trust me don't take your dog to a well known place in East gate because some of their staff don't do the job aka don't treat your pet with care. I am so happy that my sister told me to take my dog All Creatures there because Amber was awesome with her and she did a excellent job and Kalani was treat with love and care. I just know that I will be going there for grooming vet services and boarding for now on and their prices are great. Thank you Amber and All Creatures for taking great care of my baby. You guys are AWESOME!!!
Everyone at All Creatures was helpful and kind! I love the wellness plan option.
All Creatures Animal Hospital and staff are amazing!!!! We had to put our beloved little Sandy down and they were all so sympathetic and caring for her and us. We had to get a new dog soon after Sandy wasn't here at our home. We had to fill the silence with the sound of a dog again. We found Ally at the league of animal welfare. We also got Sandy there 10 years ago. They are also wonderful to work with. All Cteatures took Ally in with open arms. I think we will be ok!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Great Staff. Great boarding.
Maggie did an amazing job on our American Eskimo, Sammy! She is beautiful and looks like a puppy again even though she is 10 years old.
