Dental Health is a huge part of a healthy pet
Does your dog or cat have bad breath? Does he eat his or her food carefully? Have you noticed pain or bleeding from the mouth when eating, or a foul smelling yellow-brown crust around the gum line? Any or all of these signs could mean dental disease, a painful and serious problem that requires veterinary attention. The original cause of most dental problems is plaque, a colorless film that contains a large number of harmful bacteria. Because your pet doesn't brush his teeth like you do, this plaque can cause tartar to develop on the tooth near and under the gum line. The result is swelling, redness and inflammation of the gums (gingivitis), and eventually periodontal disease, which can destroy the gums and tissue that support the teeth.
There are significant risks associated with poor oral health.
- By the age of three most pets show some sign of dental disease.
- Periodontal disease in pets has been associated with liver, kidney and heart disease.
- Periodontal disease in pets can lead to poor general health.
The good news is that dental disease is a preventable and treatable problem in most pets. Ask your veterinarian for a complete oral checkup for your pet, and schedule regular dental cleanings to help keep your pet in the best of health. Normal dry pet food provides a dental benefit because of the effect of crunching the kibbles and the moderate scraping action that provides. However, specially formulated foods are available which can do a much better job of cleaning your pet's teeth. Ask your veterinarian for help in selecting the best food for your pet.

All Creatures sent a team to the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC)
Dr. Dan Meakin, Dr. Linda Meakin, Jamie Allen, Nathan Morris and Katie Stall just returned for a week of lectures at the NAVC in Orlando, Florida. We learned so much and can't wait to implement what we learned for our patients and clients. Dr. Dan and Dr. Linda Meakin attended classes on pain management, ophthalmology, dentistry, surgery and infectious diseases. The Meakins have been attending the NAVC 5 day conference in Orlando for over 20 years. In addition Dr. Dan Meakin attends at least 3 or more conferences per year to stay current on exotics and new treatments. Dr. Linda Meakin attends the National Reproduction Conference annually. The state of Ohio only requires 2 full days of continuing education per year (about 15 hours). Dr. Dan receives over 100 hours per year of continuing education. This commitment to CE is one of the reasons that the Meakins and All Creatures remains dedicated and passionate about what we do. Jamie and Nathan attended a myriad of classes relating to practice management and technician skills and education. Katie Stall attended practice management sessions and also spoke on the expert wellness plan panel. back to top

Client Testimonials
Dr. Dan was extremely knowledgeable about house rabbits. He explained what was going on with our sick rabbit and gave us a good plan of care.
We always get top-notch service whenever we bring our dog in to the office. We can call and 9 times out of 10, you can see us at a moments notice. I feel confident and secure in the care that my pet receives at All Creatures.
Everyone has always been pleasant, professional & patient with my dog and myself.
As always my dog was recognized and welcomed (they know her better than they know me). She had her teeth cleaned and the staff were diligent in informing me of all that needed to be done and how she came through. The followup call the next day was nice too.
Our pets have been looked after by your staff for a number of years now, and we could not have had better experiences anywhere. We appreciate the "personal" touch.....the actually getting to know each member of our "Zoo Crew". Dr. Corman and Dr. Raab and their assistants, take the time to talk to, calm and relax whomever happens to be the patient/patients for the day. Your Reception and Check-Out Staff are friendly, personable and knowledgeable. I could only wish that our own personal Doctor's would take lessons from your staff! So from Rosie, Sophie, Reyna, Arthur and Miss Vivienne, our sincere thanks!
Everyone is caring and well knowledge in the office. Awesome doctors.
Took my dog in and Dr. Fling immediately knew the problem. He scheduled emergency surgery and I believe saved her life. He walked me through the process and the cost (which came out less than the estimate) and met with me when I picked her up.
Our grooming appointment with Maggie was excellent as usual! She is so good with our dogs and takes the time to point out potential future problems. Keep up the great job!!!
The care provided to all my pets from All Creatures is always outstanding. They are very courteous and attentive to my pets needs. There are four other vet offices that I drive past each visit to Dr. Dan's office in Amelia because I like the care provided to my pets and adding the care packages makes it especially nice too for budgeting expenses. THANK YOU ALL CREATURES!
Dr. Linda and staff were excellent. I felt my dog's healthy was very important to them
