Dear OUTreach friend,
The warm weather and sunshine also means that bullying and suicide attempts are suddenly an even bigger problem than our usual one per week, with three times as many the last two weeks.
What can you do?
It is time for the epidemic of LGBT youth suicide, bullying and homelessness in Utah to stop. Can you volunteer your time, or make a small donation? And most important - please be the person who stands up and speaks out.
Tell the youth in your life that you love them. 80% of LGBT youth don't know one supportive adult - see what you can do to change that. Tell you neighbors and colleagues that LGBT youth and adults are human and deserve respect if not love in their lives.
Together we CAN make a difference.
Marian Edmonds, Executive Director OUTreach Resource Center

Our new volunteer partner: Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah!
| |
Buzz, Executive Director, and Lisa (who also teaches our new healthy cooking class!) came to OUTreach Thursday the 21st to talk about the thousands of animals they care for each year. They need volunteers, and a generous donor is paying the nominal fee for OUTreach youth to be trained to help feed baby birds and care for the incredible needs of the animals that are brought in to the Center every day. You may have read about the work they are doing to save the baby beavers injured by the oil spill in Willard Bay ( read the Salt Lake Tribune article).
We think that what they do is VERY important, and is a great fit for our compassionate OUTreach youth. Do you have a heart for caring for animals in need? A baby hummingbird needs to be fed every 15 minutes...they need YOU! Learn more on their FaceBook page and website.

Love Utah Give Utah? You sure did!
| |
WOW. OUTreach came in 20th in its category of small nonprofits, raising almost $2,000 from 30 wonderful donors! If you were one, you had a personal thank you...if you weren't one Friday, but want to give now, well, that would make a huge difference to us! We do a LOT with every dollar, working every day to prevent LGBT youth suicide, bullying and homelessness in an area that leads the country in all three.
Together we CAN make a difference, and we have already. Please join us and give what you can.
Fascinating fact:
There are now over 20 - yes, TWENTY - centers modeled directly after OUTreach. We mentor community groups to create their own centers and save lives - from Texas to California, Florida and beyond! Plus share with your friends how things ARE getting better in Utah, thanks to you and your fellow OUTreach volunteers and supporters, and encourage them to join in the fun!
