OUT in the Silence Award Winners!
OUTreach Bullying and Suicide Awareness Vigil
OUT in the Silence is a nationwide contest that recognizes youth:

"The award was established in 2011 to honor courageous and unheralded young people who are leading the way in making schools and communities safe from bullying and welcoming for all, especially in places where silence and indifference have rendered lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth and their allies invisible, marginalized, fearful, and powerless for far too long."  And OUTreach youth received an honorable mention!  Read more

A Message from our Safe and Sound Partner
Would you like to be a part of creating something WONDERFUL?
mbb
We are developing an LGBT LDS homeless youth placement program called "Safe and Sound" (which we are honored that Mormons Building Bridges has endorsed). This program is a response to the rising numbers of LDS LGBT kids that are being kicked out of their homes once they disclose their orientation etc. in Utah. We wish to prevent children from falling through the cracks and into the terrors of homelessness or worse suicide. This program is being developed in the spirit of providing loving homes for these young people within the LDS community.

Hence we are sending out a call to ask for volunteers to be part of our Safe and Sound Development Team. We need folks who would be interested in participating in our steering committee, in helping us write and establish our best practices and vetting procedures, and in helping with publicity and with fundraising.

If you have skills and talents that you would like to lend to Safe and Sound please send me a message so that we can talk about bringing you onboard.

We are enthusiastic about this program both because it is prescient and because it is a great chance to provide healing and safety to LDS LGBT children.

Thank you,
Berta Marquez
Safe and Sound OUTreach Resource Center Partner and
Mormons Building Bridges Member
