2014 Annual Meeting 

 

The DFF Annual Meeting was held on October 29th at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. We had a great turn out to celebrate the conclusion of our 4th year providing a healthier lifestyle to our deserving youth. Thank you to all of our donors, sponsors and volunteers for making this such a successful event. We raised 26,230!

OKRA Charity Saloon in December!
We have one more chance at OKRA Charity Saloon for the month of December! 33 charities will be participating with charities being eliminated each week based on votes. OKRA will only be keeping charities that have the most votes for the week. 17 charities will be eliminated the first week, 8 charities eliminated the second week, 4 charities eliminated the third week and the final 4 charities compete the last week. One of the final four will win. 

We need your help as early in the month as possible to keep us in the running! Support us by going to OKRA Charity Saloon in the month of December, buying a drink and voting for the DFF. Throw a happy hour or host a Christmas get-together and bring as many people as you can! 

 

Go to OKRA as many times as you can to keep us in the running each week. We will be circulating a calendar for you to pick dates to host one or more nights to benefit the DFF. Details will be sent via email at the end of November.

Peak Gymnastics and Fitness Fall fundraiser for DFF

 
Peak Gymnastics and Fitness held a Fall Showcase fundraiser in October. Throughout the event tickets were sold for a 50/50 raffle with proceeds benefiting the DFF. Thank you Peak Gymnastics for your support!

If you are a runner, swimmer, cyclist or enter races, consider racing for team DFF. We have partnered with Reason2Race who provides, athletes of all levels, the opportunity to enhance their race experience. You can join Team DFF for any race - anywhere.   Makenzie

 

 

"Makenzie is a 9 year old talented, unique, competitive gymnast in California.  She has become State Champion 2 years in a row.  In 2014 we found Discover Fitness Foundation in a GK Elite Catalog. Makenzie saw the quote "To become a champion, give 100% every day, practice like you compete, and never give up on your dream!" by Svetlana Boguinskaia, which is now her favorite quote and motivation. Without Discover Fitness Foundation Makenzie would not be able to compete as an Optional Level gymnast. She is 9 years old and competing level 7 in Spring. Not only is she a competitive gymnast, she was also born with Craniosynostosis and Severe Torticollis. She has had 3 major head surgeries to date and there may be the need for more surgeries in her future. I believe everything she has went through has made her stronger and has made her who she is today.   I want others to see that no matter what struggles you go through in life you can achieve anything you set your mind to. With Discover Fitness Foundation Athletic Scholarship they have provided Makenzie a way to succeed in what she does best.  Thank you so much Discover Fitness Foundation."
