Car Wash for Xavier |
Car wash fund raiser for Xavier BonaparteThis Saturday Morning, June 1st 8am - 12pm.8th graders will wash your carat Regions Bank Parking Lot on Pleasantburg across from Publix.Help us "wash out cancer!!!!!"All proceeds go to Xavier.He is an 8th grader at Hughes and just finished his 3rd round of chemo.
We will also need donations of car wash soap, sponges, buckets and rags/ old t-shirts. Hope to see you there!!!!

In order to attend field day, students must meet the following criteria: (1) No OSS beginning May 20th (2) No more than one (1) ISS beginning May 20th (3) Students who were removed from the PASS testing environment due to behavior issues will not attend Field Day/Eighth Grade Day (4) All library fines must be paid (5) All textbooks must be turned in and all fines paid
We will not prevent a student from attending either event due to cafeteria debt.

Hughes Academy Immersion and Advanced Spanish Graduates Enrolled for the 2013-2014 school year at Greenville High School

Hughes Immersion Spanish students are eligible for 2 high school credits. Advanced Spanish students are eligible for one high school credit. Hughes Academy graduates with Spanish high school credits (hsc)* are eligible for the following courses at Greenville High School:
- Spanish 2 Advanced - 1 hsc - Currently Offered
- Spanish 3 Honors - 2 hsc - Currently Offered
- Spanish 4 Honors - Currently Offered
- Spanish AP - College Credit - Not currently offered**
**PARENTS PLEASE NOTE**
GHS will consider class additions based on student enrollment request. At the time of course enrollment if the next level of Spanish is not offered, parents are encouraged to talk with the school and request the class. The minimum number of students to warrant the addition of a class is 15. If your child is not going to Greenville High School, please contact the guidance department at your choice of high school and discuss with administration about possible options.

Garden Help Needed this Summer!
|
Come help us take care of the Organic Garden at Hughes Academy during the summer months. Help is needed to water plants and compost, maintain and nurture crops, plants and flowers, and harvest vegetables. Staff and volunteer coordinators will be on site to provide guidance and instructions will be provide ahead of time. Students who accompany an adult, may obtain beta hours for their first quarter during the 2013-2014 school year. We need lots of hands to maintain the great work that has been done and ensure that the garden continues to thrive. Parents,
We have a couple of announcements as this year comes to a close.
All service hours are due by Wednesday, May 29. If your child has not turned in 5 hours for 4th quarter, please have them bring them to Mrs. Merck on Wednesday.
We will have our end-of-the-year meeting on June 5. It will be during the school day (not before school). We will have our last service project and activity of the 2012-2013 school year. Students should bring one item from the list below to donate to the Marie Younts Girls' Home in Mauldin. Please bring your donation to Mrs. Merck's room Wednesday-Friday, May 29-31. ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION MAY ATTEND the year end festivities!

8th graders! Donate your gently used clothing on Wednesday, June 5th and you can wear your 8th grade day t-shirt! Say good bye to those uniforms you have worn for 3 years and enjoy wearing your pre-ordered red Hughes t-shirt (and uniform dress code shorts) not one but two days in a row! We are in need of items to stock up our uniform closet! We will have students collecting uniforms in the carpool line Wednesday morning!
