| Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week |
 A HUGE thank you to all of the parents who volunteered their time, cooking talents and sent in gift cards, food and paper products for Teacher/ Staff appreciation! They said it was the best week EVER!!!! Every morning we gave away between 7 - 10 gift cards. It is so awesome! Thank you for all of your help! !!!

In order to attend field day, students must meet the following criteria:
(1) No OSS beginning May 20th
(2) No more than one (1) ISS beginning May 20th
(3) Students who were removed from the PASS testing environment due to behavior issues will not attend Field Day/Eighth Grade Day
(4) All library fines must be paid
(5) All textbooks must be turned in and all fines paid
We will not prevent a student from attending either event due to cafeteria debt.

| Blythe Study Buddies |
|
Each Friday morning before school starts, Hughes Academy students meet at Blythe Academy to help tutor students. A celebration was held recently to recognize the Study Buddy Tutors and their students success this year.

8th graders! Donate your gently used clothing on Wednesday, June 5th and you can wear your 8th grade day t-shirt! Say good bye to those uniforms you have worn for 3 years and enjoy wearing your pre-ordered red Hughes t-shirt (and uniform dress code shorts) not one but two days in a row! We are in need of items to stock up our uniform closet! We will have students collecting uniforms in the carpool line Wednesday morning!

| Southern Automotive Women's Forum |
20 Hughes Academy 8th Grade Girls who are interested in science and engineering recently attended the Southern Automotive Women's Forum held at ICAR. They had a great time learning about the engineering careers available to them.

Organic Garden Volunteers Needed
|
Hughes Academy's students have been hard at work developing and planting the organic garden, and we are now waiting on the plants to grow! We will need several volunteers over the summer to help pick vegetables and get them distributed. We plan to donate the first crops to families in the Hughes' neighborhood. Please contact Ame Holcombe, ameholcombe@gmail.com, if you are interested in helping. This will be a great way for students to earn Beta Club hours or for families to participate in community service. We hope you will get involved!
