We need students (especially 7th graders) to sign up to run for office. Elections will be held this week but the deadline has been extended to apply until Wednesday. Please encourage your child to run for office. If your child decides to, he/she will need to see Ms. Hall, Student Council Advisor, for an application packet on Monday! |

8th Grade
Service hours are due on Monday, November 5. Please make sure that you turn in your hours to the appropriate person.
8th Grade Beta recently finished up Poinsettia sales. The plants should be delivered to Hughes by November 27. We will only have a few extra plants for purchase. Please let me know should you need any more. We are going to have a meeting on Thursday, November 8 at 7:45 a.m. in the Media Center. Mrs. Fink will be taking a picture for the yearbook that morning so try to be on time. We will be discussing the next fundraiser for those going on the trip which will be Attractions books. The books are packed with coupons/certificates for local restaurants, shops, etc. The cost of the book is $20.00 which we keep $10.00. We will be issuing the students 2 books each. If you do not wish to participate, please let me know so that we won't give your child a book. You can go online at www.attractionsbook.com and see some of the businesses that are in the book. This will be the last big fundraiser with the profits going toward the trip. 7th Grade Service hours are due on Monday, November 5. 7th Grade Beta Club is wrapping up the Chic-Fil-A calendar sales and Belk Charity Day sales. All profits will be used for those going to the convention. If you have CFA or Belk money/tickets or calendars to turn in, please send on Monday. We have several people who would like to purchase CFA calendars.

Tuesday November 6th is Election Day
The upcoming presidential election is a great opportunity for you to talk to your child about the democratic process, our government and country.
Consider these tips on election day:
- Take your children with you to vote.
- Explain why it works. Talk about how elections make a nation strong. Point out that voting gives all citizens a chance to contribute.
- Watch the results come in and celebrate all of the great things about our country.
If you are in Areas 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27), don't forget to vote for school board officials. Visit www.publicedpartnersgc.org find out if you live in one of these areas and to learn more about the candidate's positions and backgrounds as they relate to public education. |
