The Dual Immersion is a program in which students learn in and through two languages.  The goals are bilingualism, biliteracy, and high academic achievement in both English and Spanish for all students.

Kindergarten and Preschool Registration 
Wednesday, April 6
Three Locations:
Carey School, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Community Campus, 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Hemingway Elementary, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Registration for All-Day Kindergarten, Dual Immersion Kindergarten and Preschool will take place on Wednesday, April 6 at three locations in Blaine County.

For students attending Alturas, Bellevue, and Hailey Elementary, parents can register their children at the Community Campus (1050 Fox Acres Road) from 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.  New this year, South Central Health District will offer immunizations at the Community Campus from 11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Cost is $20 for one shot, $40 for two shots, and $60 for three shots.  Read more.
Middle School Students Tackle Everest
Wood River Middle School science teacher Stephen Poklemba writes, "As much as the 8th graders of Wood River Middle School would have loved to travel to Nepal to tackle the world's tallest mountain, they had to settle for reaching the top by other means.  The 29,029 foot peak may have been out of reach by traditional means, but with a little creativity, cooperation, patience, help and hard work, these 8th graders brought the oxygen starved, limestone capped summit to more manageable heights." Students Learn World Languages Through Travel Exchange
Eleven 8th grade students from Wood River Middle School traveled to Madrid, Spain, studying at the Gredos San Diego school and staying with host families.  The students will also travel to Toledo, Segovia, and other places in Spain. Read more.
Attendance Counts: Schools Celebrate Increase in Average Daily Attendance

Why does attendance count? There are two reasons: 1) increased engagement with students leads to better student outcomes and 2) increased revenue from the State of Idaho.

The funding that comes to the Blaine County School District from the State of Idaho is based on Average Daily Attendance (ADA). ADA is calculated based on all of our students' attendance at school. This year there was a 5.7% increase in ADA. Read more.
