Student-Driven Learning

Bellevue Elementary first grade students met with adults and high school students to learn about the topics of their choice as part of Chandra Garrison's inspiration plan. Garrison wrote, "My students each picked what they wanted to learn about and with the help of the community and Julia Grafft at Wood River High School, I located an expert in their field of interest."
Students Inspired by Visit to Boise
5th and 6th grade students at Carey School were inspired by a recent visit to Boise, Idaho.  Students visited the Boise Zoo, toured the BSU campus, and attended a BSU football game.
Students Bike to Beaver Pond, Study Watersheds

3rd Grade (Gifted and Talented Education) GATE students at Hemingway Elementary biked to Elkhorn to an inactive beaver pond. Using scientific skills of observation and data collection, they began a study of our community's watershed and water quality. They will visit active beaver ponds to compare and contrast the ponds while developing and answering questions about the animal's impact on our ecosystem. They will also be learning about the ecology of beavers and their history in the Wood River Valley and our state.

What Inspires You?

Hailey Elementary students answered the question, "What Inspires You?" Each student wrote one thing that inspires them.  Tonight, ask your student what inspires them and share one thing that inspires you!
Student Leadership

A group of 15 Wood River High School Leadership students attended the Idaho Association Student Council Conference in Nampa. Brady Delgadillo delivered the keynote address to 300 students and advisors. There were 16 break out sessions to choose from, including topics like MADD, effective leadership skills, fundraising & service projects. Grace Evans, Emily Thayer & Leah Thayer presented a breakout session on how to run a school store.
Nominate a Student Today for Doing the Right Thing

Three times a year, DO THE RIGHT THING honors youth in Blaine County who distinguish themselves by their positive behavior. Anyone can nominate a youth or group of youths for good deeds. Students do not need to be a resident of Hailey. Students can live anywhere in Blaine County.

How does it work? You can nominate a student any time online.

What happens then? Every student nominated receives a Do The Right Thing certificate of recognition and a letter from the Hailey Police & Fire Chief.

FIVE TOP NOMINEES each quarter receive special recognition, one of whom will be selected as a Standout nominee. The Standout winner last year was Carlos Gonzalez, who won a $250 gift certificate to Sturto's, among other prizes.

Submit nominations online by November 3.
