Come to a Public Budget Meeting This Week

It's Time for a New Financial Plan.  The Board of Trustees needs your input on the budget.

Come to any meeting that fits your schedule.  Ask questions, give feedback, and help the Board identify ways to create a sustainable fiscal plan.

Why? Since 2006, the budget revenue has remained flat and capped.  In 2011 expenses began exceeding revenue and reserve funds are being used.

We Need Your Voice! What do you value in the Blaine County School District and to what degree do you value programming, class size, etc.?

What insights do you have for dealing with increasing expenses while revenues remain flat?  Tell us what you think.

Elementary Students Learn Lessons About Friendship from High School Students
Wood River High School students visited elementary schools to read "A Friend for Lakota" to elementary students at Bellevue, Alturas, Hailey and Hemingway Elementary Schools.  Elementary students learned lessons about friendship through the book and discussion afterward.  The book, "A Friend for Lakota" was presented to each school's library. Nominate a Student Today for Doing the Right Thing

Three times a year, DO THE RIGHT THING honors youth in Blaine County who distinguish themselves by their positive behavior. Anyone can nominate a youth or group of youths for good deeds. Students do not need to be a resident of Hailey. Students can live anywhere in Blaine County.

How does it work? You can nominate a student any time online.

What happens then? Every student nominated receives a Do The Right Thing certificate of recognition and a letter from the Hailey Police & Fire Chief.

FIVE TOP NOMINEES each quarter receive special recognition, one of whom will be selected as a Standout nominee. The Standout winner last year was Carlos Gonzalez, who won a $250 gift certificate to Sturto's, among other prizes.

Submit nominations online by November 3.
