Take the Strategic Plan Survey

What happens when over 500 people answer 7 questions?  A lot of answers and ideas, that's what!  Help us prioritize the answers from 16 meetings.  Pick the ten that best describe the answers to each of the questions.  Help us create the mission and values for the Blaine County School District.  Your Voice Counts.  Be Part of Of Our Future.

Paper surveys are available at your school and due back by Wednesday, February 11.  The electronic survey closes Sunday, February 15.

Thank you for being part of our children's future!

Students Teach Students Through Project Based Learning

At Hemingway Elementary, Mrs. Copeland's 4th grade Dual Immersion students are "learning buddies" with Mrs. Schumacher's Dual Immersion Kindergarten.  Through Project Based Learning (PBL), they are studying animals.  Students have been working together to research information on the internet about their animals.  4th graders have helped the Kindergartners sort through the information and decide what is useful for their reports.

The culmination of the PBL will include a written report by the Kindergartners and a presentation of each student's animal head dress with the 4th graders telling the audience about each animal's specific characteristics.  The presentations will be in Spanish. 21st Century skills include collaboration, information and media literacy. It's been a fun learning experience for the two classes!

ISAT 2.0 Tip of the Week

What is different about the new summative assesments?

The new assessments for English language arts and math will enable educators to deepen their understanding of student progress from grade to grade - and, just as importantly, identify and address any gaps in progress well before students enter college or the workforce.
